Its not good for xbox fans and PS fans and the industry as a whole. Imagine MS gets away with it then Sony either follow suit because they know they will get away with it as well or be forced by publishers to go this route.
It will be a disaster for everyone. As a PS fan i am defiantly not celebrating. In fact i am really worried about where the gaming industry is heading.
With this kind of response MS should really change course.
Bought a 60giger PS3 at launch. Only played GOW2 and MGS 2 and 3 on it before MGS4.
No for me i really didn't play much PS2 games on my PS3. This gen though might be a different story but unfortunately it will not be.
The knock on effect will be quite bad for the gaming industry.
The vast majority of gamers that make the gaming industry as is use the second hand market. This has allowed these very same gamers to take more risk with different games and buy new games with money they get from selling old games.
Now imagine this second hand market drying up.
Imagine then no new innovation as every devlopers and publishers only create FPS that are sure to sell ...
Sony said PS4 will play used games. Period.
Unless Sony say so otherwise or there are restrictions like MS have outlined then there is absolutely no point in speculating on this.

Well the OS is also taking up more RAM for the One so i am sure it contributed.
It is critical to their one hub strategy. Weather people will respond i am not sure. I doubt it.

It is good because it has sent a clear signal to MS that this would not be tolerated which is good for all gamers including us PS fans. Sony and other key stakeholders are observing this carefully.
