Best comment EVER!
I just want to let them know that they are losers for reporting the article and then leaving worthless replies. If they don't want to add to a conversation then they should just shut up and lurk.
The reason you don't see writers on 1UP, IGN, and G4 replying to comments is because they think they are on top of some ivory tour. They see themselves and journalists when they aren't. I think they should reply to people on their websites. Why bother having any comment system at all if ...
I just need to say a couple more things here.
Popularity is never an argument for how good or bad something is. Neither is how much money it makes. If we used sales as a measure for how goos something is then we would have to all agree that Transformers 2 is one of the best movies ever, and that movie sucked.
I am also not directly comparing PS2 features to the Xbox 360 features. What I am trying to make evident with my article is that the Xbox 360 has introduced and...
@MaximusPrime,
You are going to bring FFXIII into the discussion? SquareEnix and the FF series today is exactly what is wrong in the video game industry. The FF series has become stagnant and a rotting corpse. The only people that still play FF are people that can't accept the fact that FFX was the last good game in the series.
I am simply admitting my bias and then attempt to make my case for the Xbox 360
@deadreckoning666,
I agree with you for the most part about paying for Xbox LIVE. It does suck that I have to pay for it but at the same time it has funded Microsoft into adding more and more features to the service.
While the PSN does offer many of the same features that LIVE does NOW, it didn't before. I would also argue that the PSN probably wouldn't have many of the features it does if it were not for Microsoft doing it first.
I do hope that with the...
@Lou-Cipher, as far as failure rate goes, yes that totally sucks. The console fails, and Microsoft extended the warranty. It wasn't an ideal situation but it happened and people will always talk about it.
As far as DLC goes. I agree with you that some companies do seem to hold back content from the retail version of a game only to charge for it later and I think that is piss poor and should be stopped. You don't have to buy that DLC.
However, I think DLC in general i...
Ok, maybe I am being a bit harsh on the PS2. Yes, there were some great games on the system but what else did it offer? Many of the games on the PS2 were also on the Gamecube or Xbox and any of the PS2 exclusives could have just as easily been released on either of the other two systems.
The point I am trying to make is that the PS2 just offered a better visual experience from its predecessor and also included DVD technology. It didn't change the industry in any way where the Xbo...
EA makes it hard to like them. They do great stuff with Electronic Arts Partners, but then they do stuff like this. It is a shame that they can get away with trash like this.
I understand that it costs money to support online play but what good does it do to constantly tell a person to play Madden Arcade? You obviously already payed $60 for Madden 10. EA should just let the customer play the game in peace.
It clearly isn't a perfect relationship as IW and Activision have had disagreements. When IW wanted to make a modern warfare game Activision turned them down and made sure that CoD2 was WW II themed. IW also wanted their newest game to be called "Modern Warfare 2" but Activision made them add the "Call of Duty" name to the game.
I don't think you understand how the world works. If 17 million Xboxes got the RRoD it is covered under the 3 year warranty. Yes, some people did just go out and buy a new Xbox but a vast majority of those 17 million were sent back to MS and repaired. The shipping was free and the repair was free.
The RRoD has been a massive money loss. I think it is plenty fair to say that probably 1-2 million people might have just gone and bought a new 360 instead of getting it repaired but th...
@ryano23277, modding the Xbox 360 is not legal nor is playing a backup of a game you purchase.
Modifying the xbox hardware is in violation of the Terms of Use that everybody has agreed to by default simply by purchasing the Xbox. Backing up a video game is also not necessarily legal as well. You have to consider that when you buy the game, you are buying the disc on one hand but also purchasing a license to play the game from the disc. The license agreement does not extend copyin...
that sentence makes absolutely no sense. Do you speak English?
They actually don't lose money on each system sold now. The Arcade sells $200 retail and they have decreased the manufacturing cost to less than that so they actually make a small amount of money on each unit now.
Also, I didn't want intend the article to come of as saying that MS is banning the systems to increase sale. I mostly just wanted to point out something that I found interesting in that because they are banning systems, it will inadvertently increase overall system sale...
@Major_Tom, I think you would be surprised to find that a lot of people that have modded their Xbox 360 actually do play a lot of games online and subscribe to Xbox LIVE. Even if they only purchase the system and $50 a year for LIVE they are still saving a lot of money.
@i3eyond the Circle, if you look at the people being banned it actually looks like the firmware version has little to do with it. A lot of people across all of the different brands of DVD drives and several differ...
from what I read the method that has been floating around the past week or so to unban a console is actually not valid. It is an old method that used to work but there are certain things that you can't do since the newest firmware that are required to obtain the CPU-ID or something like that.
I could be wrong on that and there may be some other way to unban that I have not yet read about though.
It is probably too late to comment at this point to have anybody read this but I feel the need to comment anyways.
Yes, the EyeToy can do a lot of stuff that Microsoft showed Natal capable of at E3. The dodgeball game is an extremely basic demo of what Natal can do but the EyeToy could never do something like Milo.
This is just an evolution of a controller. People didn't criticize the analog stick when that started being put on controllers by saying, "look, the ...
the PSPGo is in a very different market than the PS3. The PSP has to compete with the DS as well as the iPhone. The DS has completely clenched the japanese market and software sales on the PSP will likely never reach that of the DS.
as for the PSP going completely download only, I can see why Sony is trying this, but it is in a weird market. Sure, they control of the PSP Go is better than an iPhone but the number of games available on the iPhone is larger, the iPhone is cheaper, ...
Whoever wrote this article needs to think a little bit more before writing. you have to realize that most people that read blogs everyday are a niche part of the market and we don't map onto the mass market. Mass market appeal is what matters, that is why the Wii has been so successful. The hardcore gamer has absolutely nothing to do with the Wii's success.
As far as the PS3 goes, I still don't see it getting the leg up on the Xbox 360. First of all, the 360 has a larger install ...
One of the commenters on Kotaku goes into some great detail about how nVidia and ATI hardware render things like anti-aliasing, shadow maps, numerical precision, and texture filters and the typical differences one would expect to see.
It is also worth pointing out that the games run on different engines for each console so you would assume some difference because of that.
