If you are looking at NPD numbers, yes, game sales are down. But, you need to analyze what those numbers mean.

Why would a non-mobile piece of hardware have mobile wireless technology built in? Surely you would have internet at your house.
Latency isn't the only issue with services like OnLive. The second major issue is the fact that the video stream is horribly compressed. The resolution is greatly degraded, low framerate, and all the colors are just completely washed out.
It is going to be a couple of years before they fix the latency issue. Then they will have to increase their video quality drastically just to match current generation.

That video honestly looks pretty terrible. It is just a forrest map in the current generation CryEngine 2. The Creation Engine will be more than capable of pumping out some crazy visuals given more power. I think Skyrim on PC looks great, even compared to other current games, because I enjoy the art style.

Dude, absolutely. You nailed it. The next generation isn't going to revolve around having a console do a single task at a time. We aren't using iPhone in 2009 anymore. consoles of the future are going to become more and more like PCs, but streamlined for controller and TV use, rather than monitor and mouse/keyboard use.

High end PC games will easily use more than 2-3GB of RAM. One thing you need to realize that the RAM we are talking about on a console is TOTAL RAM, which would likely be shared between system and video, similar to how the Xbox 360 works today.
A game on the PC today will absolutely fill up the GDDR RAM on a high-end videocard at about 2GB. If you run SLI of Crossfire then that would be 4GB of video RAM alone. Then take into cons...

Ubisoft has completely stagnated the AC franchise with the release of Revelations. They made a great game with AC2 and have just repackaged it twice now with some more story. Ubisoft is going to have to take some significant time working on AC3 if they want to take the franchise to the next level.
