Is Switch not both a handheld and console? Or did you miss that? Also, NSMBU came after 2, so there were not 2 before.
I'm not sure why everyone is being so dense about this. It's not a remake of Super Mario Bros 3, it's the third game in the "New Super Mario Bros." series. Do you not remember this game? https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
Aaaand now it's back, but at $149. Whoopsie.
Sold out and stock notifications don't work at all.
Switch does that already. Some PC game systems do that too, like Steam. It's only available when a game is for sale as a pre-order, though. It SHOULD be the norm everywhere, you're right.
It's not really that surprising that the 2-year-old console with new games coming out on the reg is outselling the two consoles that are being replaced next month.
Games DEFINITELY weren't "complete working right". Was there DLC? No, definitely not. What you got was the complete game, as-is. Was it bug-free? Rarely, if ever. Nintendo, however, was better than most with having bugs hammered out, as is still the case today. And yes, carts cost more than CDs. Still, I think graphically, there is a lot more work on games today than previously, and game engines are much more complex, requiring a lot more bug fixing. Also, I think if in...
My article is from 2013, but I updated my numbers for 2020 using an inflation calculator. Go read the article, my numbers aren't the same. I used the source for the historical prices, not for the current values.

The combat looks similar to FFXV though. It's certainly not turn-based, looking at the battle with the Marlboro. The setting is different, sure, but even FFXV had a "kingdom vs. kingdom" aspect, and this seems to be that as well. I wouldn't say it's "nothing like XV".
To be fair, he's actually right. NES games in 1990 cost $50. That's $99 today. N64 games cost $70 in 1998, that's $111 today. We actually are in the cheapest time, right now, for the cost of games, as that $60 price point we've had for a few generations now is worth less and less compared to older game prices.

I'm shocked it ever sold out in the first place. It's a POS with a terrible game library that doesn't represent the PS1 classics at all.
The idea of making a video game about your dead mother riding a Pegasus into heaven IS beyond ridiculous, don't you think? Celebrity or not, it's going to illicit at least SOME ridicule. I think THAT is what they were mocking.
Checkerboarding is the "1080i" of the 4K generation. It's basically interlace. I have no problem with it, it's still native 4K, which is a lot better than lower resolutions.
I AM aware of this story, and there is no scenario where the company wins. They're basically going to commit public suicide by losing all of their meager assets in the counter suit.
You clearly either ARE the founder of digital Homicide or have a vested interest in the company or its founder, because anyone with any sense would see that basically everything you said is completely insane. Digital Homicide acted like a bunch of children when their game was (rightly) called out for being terrible, and they apparently STILL haven't learned their lesson. If they take this to trial, they are going to lose and go bankrupt. I seriously hope they drop the lawsuit, for thei...
They said the same thing the last time they bumped back the U4 date. I'm sure it WILL be worth the wait, but it now seems like they weren't being realistic when they originally announced when it would release.
I think it's rather clever myself, although Activision and Sony's lawyers may not agree.
Sessler is a pompous ass and I'm glad to see him go. He thinks the world of himself, and he takes every chance to throw it in the viewer's face every time he speaks.
In Japanese culture, raucous applause isn’t considered a polite way to act, so I kind of understand them doing that. If you were to broadcast the actual audio it would seem very unenthusiastic, but that’s just the way Japanese culture is. Sony knew this going in and that this would be broadcast worldwide, so they were probably trying to mitigate that. I’m not defending it, I’m just trying to explain it.
There is no "New Super Mario Bros 3", so "yup"
