Southland Tales is an entertaining mess of a movie by the director of Donnie Darko. I couldn't even begin to tell you what it's about, but it's worth watching if only for Johnson's performance in it. And Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a porn star which is a bonus.
I love when people say things like that. Ignorance is really kind of amusing. I'm sure IW is going to repackage the same game with new maps and call it a day. That's what every game developer does, right?

I'm not even a fan of Gears of War but the game does have a story. A good enough story to service what this movie will be. A brainless, violent action movie.
Actually, The Rock can act. I take it you haven't seen Southland Tales, or Walking Tall? He did a good job in both of those films.
Johnson is a good actor. But Marcus isn't black so that would be a bad casting decision.

See, now a MGS movie is pointless to me because the games themselves are so much like movies that all it would do is tell the story in with live action.

Call of Duty 4 has a good story. Does anyone even pay attention? This could easily be a good action film. But to everyone saying there already are enough war movies? Really? So then we have enough horror movies, action movies, cop movies, romantic comedies? Are you daft?
If someone kills me by camping a doorway, I can, and do get around them and kill them when I find them in the same spot. Be it through a well timed grenade, or because now I'm ready for them and use a different tactic.
I have played TF2, and it's fun, but COD offers more fun for me, especially when I kill cowards, er I mean snipers, campers.

No skill needed in COD? Tell that to the countless people I cause to quit games all the time. Like today, my friend and I were playing Domination on Chinatown, each using MP5s and when the host quit the score was 75 - 45 us, and we both had in the mid 20's in kills and haven't even cracked 8 deaths. Mind you, no one else on our team or the enemy's had more than 9 kills. Why is this? Because the people we were playing were unskilled. Even at higher ranks of prestige. COD may have a pick up and...
So I'm guessing that those who think this is a big deal live in Europe and Australia? Because the game is coming out day and date on all platforms in the US. Sorry, but while I am looking forward to the game an all, it's really not a major coup for Sony.
Considering how I live in the US, this news doesn't affect me at all.

Gears 2 isn't going to sell more than the first by the time 3 hits the shelves.
RE cost about 30 mill to make. Gears has a much grander scope and would require a much bigger budget.
Maybe they kicked him out of the RV2 rooms because he sucked. When I played we generally didn't kick people that contributed to winning.
Considering that Gears 2 sold less than the first game and that was about 6 million and the average ticket is about $10. Provided everyone who bought the game goes to see it, it will make about $60 million just off of fans. The movie has to appeal to a much larger audience than that. I'm a huge fan of Firefly and the show averaged about 7 million viewers and sold really well on DVD and yet the movie still barely made 40 million.

Silent Hill was terrible. I looked great but not only was it boring, it was dumb. Think back to the best movies you've seen and think of how a plot unfolds. The story is told THROUGH OUT the film. If a film has to come to a dead stop so that a heap of exposition explaining every single bit of what lead the characters there then it is, in fact, bad writing.
Were any of you around in 1993? The 3D0 is by far the worst console launch. Followed CLOSELY by the Atari Jaguar.
