Makes the article a few posts below look stupid (not that it needed help).
Appear Microsoft can talk the talk and walk the walk.
How's Sony balance sheet going to look next week?
Glad I'm not the only one who can read.
"Naughty Dog was able to pump out two million triangles in every frame."
What he actually said
"graphics chip at one point two million triangles that we try to draw every frame."
1.2 vs 2 million, they just contradicted their own article.
Soooo which one is correct?
80,000? Hmm, I could see 8,000, thats a very hi res character but 80,000?
Love to hear the words myself. Instead of the examiners take.
Actually thinking about it, culled with edgeGeom, that would be about right, somewhere in the 30-40k region.
@thereapersson
"Though you have to admit, it says a lot about the 360's hardware if it can pull a game like this off."
Maybe you should read the article, the tech was working on an Xbox.
Not a 360 an Xbox.
" with a version of the software having already been running smoothly on an original Xbox since 2006"
Meh, the only way to do it is a lot of pre-computed stuff, and little dynamic stuff.
Godmars, it's not the exclusion of HD-DVD its the exclusion of a mandatory HDD.
If this an issue for HDD enabled 360's? No.
Would Blu-ray help out HDD enabled 360's? No.
@N4G king. Sorry but you missed the point, YOU MUST have an HDD installed on your PS3, it's not "standard" its essential, the PS3 couldnt have launched without one, it's not a standrad feature, it's require dpart of the system. Thats not a bad thing but it increases your costs. There are no if or buts, even if all the other tech in the PS3 became cheap, the 360 will always have a model that is cheaper due to no HDD. If people choose that option who knows in the future.
A 360 ...
Here we go again, Blu-ray this, DVD 9 that.
Fact is, the 360 can have an HDD or not. PS3 it is mandatory, and a lot of game must install themselves to it. (where are the complaints about 20gb users runnning out??). All games stream to the HDD for the PS3 regardless. Without it the PS3 would not function.
Due to DVD 9
-The PS3 is likely never to be cheaper than a 360. Ever.
-The PS3 20gb users might upgarde some 40gb might want to as well

1/ The PS3 doesnt have texture badnwidth, it's severally bandiwdth limited. That why KZ2 uses deffered rendering, and this is a similar method, this is what they are doing to get around it. Its the key to making any PS3 game look fantastic, and why most early multplatforms suffered. Just cause it can handle 8 texture slots, doesnt mean you shouldnt necessarily use them.
2/ He can PR talk all he likes, but we have never seen anything from them so its hard to even suggets what hes...
Looking at his comments, I think you could take a wild stab and suggest that..
PS3 verison will hit 1080p
360 verison's will have slightly less texture compresison (higher fidelity).
360 verison will have slightly better filtering.
But meh, who knows, I don tknow why they would both with Pre-computed stuff on the 360 if they arent going for 1080p. It can handle the bandwidth easily.
LOL that doesnt even make sense, 1k textures?
He's talking about 1024x1024, however they are talking about packing all the data into those textures, even at 128bpp, with all the texture data packed into the format (as they are referirng to), the final fidelity isnt going to be 1024x1024.
What Digi Guys are actually saying is, "due to the texture bandiwdth limtiaitons, we arent using muliplte texture slots, but one texture slot with all the data packed in."
A review is nothing more than one persons opinon on a game, I'm not sure there is a "problem" with it so much as there is a problem with the fact that almost anyone can set up a pooer mans IGN and review and rate sgames these days.
Ultimatly, unless a game truly stinks, and you will get an overly resounding repsones form reviews if they think a game really sucks, I really dont pay that much attention.
If a game gets an 8 vs and 8.5 I really dont see it...
Thats fine, but the majority of people I've heard from have loved the game, for every 3 people I hear its fantastic and fun, I hear 1 person who "went round to there mates place" or"played it for a couple of hours" and "it's just like Halo 3".
This is pretty much the consitent trend.
Just like Halo 3? That in itself is a pretty damming inditment of someone who probably just doesnt like Halo games.
Theres nothing wrong with that, everyone has ...
What is it with people who havent played the game commenting on it?
The game is as fun as hell, it really does crack me up that the game gets overwhelmingly positve review but people say "from what Ive heard". Go play the game and then decide if you like it. And if you dont like dont buy it.
PS3 fanboys are like watching golum with a rope around him "it burns us, it burns us".
The difference between you guys is, when I title like MGS4 c...
I'm not arguing with you on that, but I wasnt the one suggesting that lots of games already do it. Hey but dont let the facts get in the road of a good defense.
Wipeout is render at 1080 lines, not full 1080p however, and I dont think it really matters does it?
Gees defensive much. I prefer a game at 720p with full effects than something lacking and struglling at 1080p frankly.
@driod and bot
Maybe you should define "plays at".
I think the person was talking about rendered at 1920x1080.
Not scaled to 1080i/p (and scaled awefully in some cases).
Clearly you dont know what the difference is. Which may mean it isnt gong to make a hell of a lot of difference to you anyway.
Epic fail there on your list.
As for the article, wait what article, all I se is some comaprisim screenshots, are they tryin...
Well, Im playing it at the moment, and yeah guess what.
IT IS A GOOD GAME!
Wait for all the disagress from people who havent even loaded it up.
@morganfell.
Clearly you cant read, or at least dont want to read...
""The scope of the game did grow some,"
"We found a lot of ways to get a lot more out of it than we expected, especially since we didn't originally understand what it would mean to have an open-ended world like New Mombasa. You could spend days just wandering around the city."
Hmm, sounds to me like they may have just expanded upon their intial premise.

Dropping the resolution is at best 15 minutes work in terms of programming.
What it does do is allow you to either
a) save on memory for the buffers
b) drop the workload on the Pixel shader.
PS3 multiplat games have done it for possibly both reasons in the past.
I haven't programmed on a PS3, but given you get better memory saving by dropping texture res (which we have seen on PS3 games), it's likely B, the pixel shader couldn't handle the work they ...
I doubt Sony will bne anywhere near profit, probably aorund the same as usual, 150 million loss.
