i'm torn between what i'm experiencing and what i'm trying to convince myself but I cannot deny the painful fact. i reached level-10 and i'm not excited to continue, it becomes tedious and lacks the punch Unreal Tournament Alpha has in a quick comparison.
in a word, DOOM mp feels muted!
my hopes now are on the single player.
the games you mentioned are in the same boat and that is where Doom belongs, it's the unholy marriage with other certain shooters that I don't like much.
you're talking as if one of them or both has identity crisis which is not the case. each has its own merits and both are classics.
I add my voice to the community's remarks and requests, it will be a major disappointment if id failed to communicate. everything you said I have experienced in the game and though the game isn't terribly bad but I too think the mp will quickly lose its steam the way things are now.
back to Unreal Tournament Alpha.
Piracy was never the reason behind low sales and there are countless examples to prove it it's not even an intellect argument.
it still looks nice but I despise this marketing trend of recent years.
just played the open beta, I still think Unreal Tournament Alpha is better overall especially weapons feedback. I hope DOOM will offer a good campaign experience because the multiplayer feels a bit behind the competition.

I think you and I misunderstood each other, I would never classify a game before i give it a fair amount of time to form an opinion. i meant that the DOOM and Unreal brands are classics.
as for the new DOOM mp and Unreal Tournament Alpha, i can honestly say that the latter is way ahead in the mp experience.
