Then what does? There's some matchmaking issues, but other than that, your complaints are exaggerated nitpicks. Basically, your review system puts everything into 3 catagories: Garbage, decent, and perfect. Think about that for a minute?
God of War was in my opinion the most visually impressive game on the PS2. I'm more interested in the gameplay though. Is there a rumor going around that this game might have coop?

For a standard action rpg.
Some of them are actually pretty good. Heroic brutalities aren't bad either. There's just no gore. Sub-Zero freezes his opponent and shatters them. Scorpion still sets people on fire. It's not as bad as people would have you believe.

Is it possible to play the game with just the analog stick? Surely they wouldn't force me to use the 360 d-pad?
In the review, it said you could use the d-pad for 2D controls and hold the left trigger for 3D movement. Can I switch this in the options and have the analog stick act as the d-pad, using the analog stick for 2D movement and holding down the left trigger for 3D movement?
Why not just use the Baraka fatality from mk2? He just stabs you through the chest and you slide down. I have no problem with Batman's finishing move.
Matchmaking and bugs are the only legitimate complaints.
The game feels really polished to me. I'm not saying that it doesn't need a patch, but it's in much better shape than I thought it'd be. Gears 1 was a mess on day 1.
