Yup I've seen a lot of fellow trophy hunters like this one. They tend to miss out on really great games and as a result they turn a really fun little hobby into an prestige hunting job.

I have played WoW for almost 5 years, and speaking of those 30 abilities most of the people used up to 20 at the time (and even that was overkill for most situtations).
But lets assume you are right and we really needed 20 hotkeys at minimal, that could easily be solved by shoulder buttons combos;

Anyone remember The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind? Zero waypoints, no modern-fast travel, you had to actually look at the many objects and terrain to know where your quest objectives are.
Miss hardcore games like that.
Also, compared to modern-open-world games, Morrowind is relatively small, but the mentioned things makes it seem much much bigger and denser.
Shogun 2 is still my favorite and i definately recommend getting Fall of The Samurai expansion!
Warhammer II is great too, tho not really my jam.
It is doable.
If you played games like Diablo III and/or Path Of Exile, you would see how the control schemes would work on a controller. It just takes a bit time to get use to that is all.
Tho i stll doubt WoW will come to consoles.
Really doubt it happening (releasing on consoles)... but, i've stated the same things for games like Diablo and i turned up to be really wrong.
Myself i had my fill of WOW for almost 5 years, and the game has really gone downwards in quality with every new expansion post Burning Crusade and from the looks of it, that has not changed in my absence.

I'm a PC gamer aswell, i was completely fine with the stable 30 FPS when i played UC1 on PS3 for the first time.

They can spin it all they want, majority of people will use it for piracy.
That is why i hoped Sony would at least try to partner up with these people to make some sort of validation SW to make sure these games are only playable for people that actually bought them in the first place (i know it is very unlikely)... because let's be real here, there is no winning against piracy.
