No it's not what they mean. They are buying it because their friends have it. The game is infantile, the maps are tiny, the sounds are absurd, the scripting in Single Player is too predictable. Multiplayer is a circus. The list goes on.

You act like you've played the game and tested on consoles, and you haven't. The engine isn't the same. The mechanics feel very very different than BC2 (from a mouse and keyboard perspective.) But this is due to the engine and not the platform.
The fact that you say the game is going to LOOK like BC2 on consoles negates any merit/point you were trying to make.
Just because they may sell more copies doesnt mean they arent worried. Activision is pissing their pants at the moment, especially the "Cant we all get along" comment from them at Gamescom. People say "Cant we all get along?" right before they get their ass beat. They know they might sell more, but they also know they are in serious trouble because of what DICE has developed.

For Fans looking for more realism, Hardcore Mode should suffice. It comes with the game, chillax folks.
The CoD series doesn't require you to take into account bullet ballistics ie bullet drop, target leading.
The Battlefield series does. Quick scoping will be much harder in BF3

I'm getting the retail copy but a friend is getting it through Origin. They will allow you to download the game a day or two before the official launch. As soon as the launch starts you will immediately be able to play the game. Kinda cool (better than standing in line at midnight, lol... like me. Pros and Cons to both.
Actually EA isn't doing a lot of talking, the press is. Activision is scared shitless and is likely working on a new engine because they know that what they have now is looking dated.

They are similar in the fact that they are First Person Shooters. If you paid some attention you would know the differences far outweigh their similarities. Watered down? Or Stretched to the console's limitations?
There is nothing fun about being spotted by one person, and having ALL THIRTY of his teammates shooting and harassing you. It makes it very difficult to flank when EVERYONE knows where you are. EVERYONE, no matter if you are on the other side of a mountain 500 miles away. It should be limited to squad-mates only, or ripped entirely and only used on the mini-map. Or server-side option.
Hardcore mode removes this entirely in previous games. (BC2)
