That is pretty lame if true. My PS Vita is capable of playing songs while gaming from the same drive. I believe the 360 allowed you to do that as well. You would think that this wouldn't be so hard to implement.
The vita is still awesome, but I think it depends on your taste of games. For me, I love it because I get quality unique games like Danganranpa 1 + 2., virtues last reward, soul sacrifice, persona 4, etc. I like japanese games especially JRPGs, so my back catalog I have yet to play are the Disgaea series, Ys series, tales series, and more. But seeing what the device is capable of with Golden Abyss, gravity rush, mortal kombat and the MGS collection, it's a shame this thing didn't take...
I see what you're saying, but what about the 3DS then? There's no western support at all on that device either and it's selling like hot cakes. I think it's simply because of two things, 1. It's cheaper, 2. Marketing and brand recognition.

There are actually some games that cannot be transferred over, for example, Blood Omen Legacy of Kain. This glitch briefly allowed these games to be downloaded and played on the vita which you can no longer do.

Dark souls 1 is a masterpiece in my opinion. I didnt like it at all at first, but slowly it gets its grips on you. After you've gotten to the point where you can parry and backstab like its yesterdays news, you begin to feel like a genuine bad ass. Dark souls 2 is shaping up to be a worthy successor and im enjoying the hell out of it now, you should definitely give it a chance.
