It depends on the source. For example. Best Buy before they had all of their displays changed out with HDTV some were still traditional and EDTV. All of those televisions recieved a 1080i signal. But only the HDTV displays were showing accurate 1080i playback. The EDTV only could show a max of 480p and the traditional display could only show the maximum resolution it is capable of. You really can't decide which direction you want to go. It is becoming clearer and clearer that you do this mostly just to get hits for your site. Last week an article that Uncharted 2 destroys all the 360 exclusives this year. Weeks before that prior to the slim and price drop announcement it was "PS3 will not beat the 360 this gen no matter what they do"
Now it is "Sony will beat 360 this holiday season". You must have read that Pachter qoute that he made this...
