I'm French and I own a PS3. I wanted to buy a X360 too but after reading that article and knowing all the problems about RROD, I'm not sure anymore... :(
Don't ask why people hate microsoft so much :
- you pay for everything (even peer 2 peer with no server, or a crappy 20 Gb HD...)

- refurbished consoles sold as new ones
- crappy customer service

I definitely agree. I'm exactly in the same situation as you, owning a PS3.
I've got a PC so why would I buy a 360 since all the FPS come to PC, where I can play with a keyboard and a mouse...

They HAVE to release another console soon or the video game business could be over for them. 360 will die, it has been outsold for months worldwide, and the gap will increase a lot with MGS and other PS3 exclusives.

How it will save the Crapbox is another question. Right now it's already deeply outsold by the PS3 worldwide and that's even BEFORE all the PS3 hits to come, like MGS, KZ2, Resistance 2, LBP, Socom and so on...
Yeah clearly 1vs1 is much better than 30vs30 larger scale battles.

metacritic means nothing. Most good FPS are rated 90+, so since X360 has mostly FPS games (bioshock, halo, gears...), it's very easy to have many 80+ games on metacritic. PS3 games include many more different genres. (ratchet, uncharted, mgs, etc. There are no such games on 360).
The funny thing is that it's now a totally useless move from MS to buy JRPG exclusivity since they sell approximately 1000 Xbox 360 per month now... Even Atari 2600 must outsell them in Japan now, their sales are abysmal.
But when they decided that, they probably hoped 360 would work there...
No amount of money in JRPG will save the situation, they will very probably cut their losses soon and give up on Japan.
There are tons of reasons actually, you know them :
- more reliability : your 360 will burn several times, like the others
- online is free
- more game genres (uncharted, ratchet, mgs 4... soon little big planet) and arguably better games (GT5 prologue, soon resistance 2, killzone 2...)
- easy upgradability (no need to buy a crappy 20 Gb disk from microsoft, for the same money, you can put any 500 Gb disk in your PS3 in 2 minutes)
- a better pad (my opinion, but ...
The PS3 version was acknowledged as the superior version in numerous sites (including IGN) because there's no pop-in and a better draw distance (you can't RROD too, which is a nice plus). Rockstar says they love the PS3 version colors too...
Now maybe we can move on to something else.
At least there are games on PS3 and the PS3 is alive, unlike the RRODbox.
