I think Sony wants the PSV to compliment the PS3, not replace it.
I think most PSV games will be compatible with the PS3. The ability to pick up a save from either system is one of the best features. Sony can't abandon that feature out of the gate.
...and why would you want "almost" ps3 level visuals if you own a PS3? Are you just concerned about saving money by purchasing the cheaper version?
I'm not against a video out option (I've used it with my PSPGo after syncing one of my dualshocks) but it really makes the device less portable. I think it also confirms that you'll have to pay more if you want both versions of the games (the PSV version won't be free).
Why does it need a 'video out' when you can pick up exactly where you left off on the PS3...did no one see the Ruin video from E3?

The "welcome back" package only seems to benefit those who don't buy games. I suppose Sony didn't have to give anything away, but people like myself who have supported Sony seem to be getting the shaft.
I have all 5 PS3 games so the only thing that applies to me is the extended PS+ service, which they owe me since I was paying for a service that I was unable to take advantage of.
You don't need your "1st" PS3. I used my slim to reset and it worked fine.
Now we're relying on 'translations' of tweets? I'm eagerly awaiting the return of the PSN as much as the next guy, but these half-assed articles have to stop.
I still have my XBL subscription (expires Dec 17) and it still won't let me delete my original credit card. It seems that once you give them a credit card, they want to keep at least one on file.
Luckily the one they have on file has expired so I don't have to worry about the auto renewal.

Why is it that people are freaking out so much over this? XBL was down during the Xmas holidays, they've had an estimated 33% failure rate, and the number of exclusives is a fraction of what Sony is offering yet the Xbox brand still seems to be selling strong.
I know a lot of people are hoping for some 'retribution' when the PSN comes back online, but I'll be happy enough just seeing my friend list populate

When he says "up to date", he might just mean that you need to load your game save from your steam account on the PS3 before it actually unlocks it...without having to complete the requirement a second time.

Not the same at all. A used copy was once new, thus the developer got money for that physical game. With piracy, the developer never receives a dime.
Also, the pre-owned game is constantly generating money...similar to used cars/houses. Piracy is just stealing.
