I agree that launch devices have more problems but your kidding yourself if you think that there won't be a chance of a defective unit if you wait 2 or 3 years.
Check the Playstation 3 and 360 support forums, they're filled with people complaining about broken new or year old consoles.
All waiting does is reduce the probability of it breaking, which, I believe for PS4/xone is already pretty low.
Your going to wait 3 years to go from a...
I'd be so pissed if I spent $500 on a brand NEW console, open it only to find out it's broken, then get a used refurb console as a replacement.
It's basically like paying full price for a used console. Terrible.
Not in Canada
Very interesting that almost 40% of PS4 buyers are former xbox/PC gamers.
I've said it for a while, Xbox brand lost a tremendous amount good will with MS overly greedy (for a corporation even) policies.
I loved my 360 when it first came out. Even Live was a deal when at the time 360 released people had to buy a $14 magazine to play a game demo but Live lost all of its value proposition and devolved into simply being a pay wall, and then MS focused on Kinect...and then their PR people treating gamers like absolute morons...then no exclusive gam...
I agree PSN plus is amazing, it doesn't even feel like being charged for online MP because of all the free games.
I was on Live for years, and it always felt like I was being exploited. PSN Plus is actually a service I would consider paying for without the online MP requirement.
The OS runs really well so I don't know about fixes,
But the updates to numerous to list.
Some immediate concerns for me
-the ability to turn off the light on the controller
-game/system updates not just downloading while in sleep mode but installing as well
- a "real" standby mode similar to a phone or tablet (I want to hold down the PS button and be back in the game fast)
-the ability to share directly ...
Sell it to Nintendo
= AWESOME!
Looking forward to getting Knack
...free on PSN Plus in 6 months.
It started on PC so I imagine PC is the lead platform
Should be good on all 3
True, but it certainly would have either been more powerful or a lot cheaper
I was more interested in Xone than ps4 until they released specs and prices.
While 99% of my favourite games (and the best games IMO) are multiplats, I do love Halo, but I also like Uncharted, TLOU, Killzone, GOW and Infamous so I went with PS4 this time around for the power price advantage.
Mine was discovering the fact Microsoft decided to put hardware costs into Kinect instead of xbox one power.
Xone would have been awesome as a the most powerful console.
That pic did nothing for me.
Except it doesnt work right now, the daily lottery is disabled.
MS would need to redesign the Xone to allow for upgradable internal hard drives for me to consider purchasing one.
I think it's deplorable that they would release a device expected to last 5 or more years and not allow you to upgrade the hard drive. And it's obvious they did so intentionally so they can sell you newer versions of the console with larger hard drives at a later date. Total MS BS.
That and putting free services behind a paywall makes m...
Sony has demonstrated to me last gen that they are highly interested in making brand new IPs all gen.
And not 3rd party timed exclusive IPS, but 1st party supported quality AAA IPs.
Which is a major reason I went with PS4.
Uncharted
Infamous
Last of US
Were some of the best games of last gen and were all brand new ips
All I care about is 1080p blue ray playback so the fact that ps4 is the best blue ray 1080p player makes me happy.
Haven't watched a DVD since '09
I will admit that my ps3 overall has way more media features and apps than my nascent ps4
You'd be surprised how many people end up using their console more for Netflix than gaming. To the point where paying for online isn't worth it but having access to Netflix totally is.
People saying that media isn't important to Sony should consider that it's the only one that doesn't put the most popular tv/movie streaming app behind a pay wall. And YouTube is free on the browser as well.
The 3 Resistance players are furious.
