I think they do need that shock and awe factor. They need something to take away the negative press they caused since the reveal. It doesn help that sony keeps hammering them everytime they make a somewhat decent annoucement.
Plus they have to know sony is gonna be coming to gamescom with quite a few new titles. They need to go big or go home.
maybe at some point the want to get out of the Home console market. 2 of their last 3 home consoles havent exactly been great sales wise, I'm willing to give the Wii-u till its 2 year mark, but a company cant keep incurring losses on a device before they decide to cut it loose. I hope nintendo can pull out of this, but it doesnt look good.

You still need a ps4 and the game that you want to play on the PS4. So its not how you are thinking.
They just had their best quarter ever selling smartphones so they maybe able to get some traction with the Xperia Z ultra or the Xperia Honami later next year. Sammy ans Apple needs some competetion at the top so they dont get complacent.
To be fair alot of Japanese companies came out and supported MS early this gen and ALOT of those games bombed on MS's platform and they became pensive of releasing JRPG's over here until recently. Japanese devs should know where their market is and release the games accordingly instead of rushing to make that extra short term $.
Yesh they do. Gaming Systems have been the odd exception to their over pricing though. But everything else outside of that and their recent Xperia line of phones have been priced on the high side.

I feel that any map you buy in COD should be Forward compatible. Especially since they re-release 3-4 of them with each new game.
This is true. Bu the fact remains that Nintendo had Mario kart, Mario, Zelda, etc.... before and they keep losing market share and selling less console each gen before the wii. Now that the casuals have left nintendo they are struggling to find a place.
I dont believe these same Ip's from nintendo will save the wii-u when the 2 generations before the wii they didnt stop the bleeding. Nintendo needs to make a strong push to get 3rd party's on the wii and the online nee...

Didnt they have those same IP's for the N64, and Gamecube? Wii sports and the casual gaming phase propelled Nintendo last gen as much as people dont want to admit it and they dont have that right now. Its good that people have confidence in nintendo but dont put it in the wrong place based on selective history.
No, but i did do 3 playthroughs. Dont have as much time for games as i once did. I do want this platinum though.
That game had me in awe the entire time. My GF loved to watch me play and she said it was like watching a sad movie, lol.
It looks like sony is using indie titles to supplement that 6 month barren release schedule plus they have the order 1886, infamous, and diablo 3 set for early next year and maybe whatever they announce at Gamescom and TGS. I think sony has a good plan for the 1st couple months after the PS4's launch.

i think the 3DS is behind where the DS was at the same time in its life. But still i dont believe tha handheld market is shrinking that much.
