poor marketing is not the problem. its the lack of clear and concise information about what or who this piece of tech is aimed at, how ti will benefit the consumer over what the competition is providing. also avoiding question and giving the wrong information and then back peddling is not doing them any favors.
we cant keep getting free things if we require the service to rival or surpass the xbox live. Sony have realized this and are getting gamers to invest in the infrastructure.
features like gaikai
streaming and uploading
cross game chat etc
all require huge investment to offer those service.
and now that we are paying for the service sony has no excuse if / when the service goes down as it would cost them big time and also a service ri...

Kinect is a forced add on you know it and i know it so stop acting like it is not.
they do love to throw that word around value. how can it be value when you are forcing users how are not interested in parts of the console and and being forced to pay and call it value
