I think films like Skyfall helped this happen. If a spy film can make $1.1 billion I'm sure Ubisoft will do everything in their power to make it good.

In the Halo for Xbox One trailer the Chief is shown holding what looks to be her chip. I bet chief will go planet hopping until he finds Halsey. Then get a fresh version of Cortana installed and then extracts whats left of her memories into it.
