Because it's cheap and user friendly. My dad can easily pick up and play the WII, i hand him a dual shock, predict chaos.

If you have both, id probably go for the 360 just in case i fancied the content at that later date. But a lot of people are brand loyal with big game franchises, largely for nostalgic reasons.
So just get it for what you want, play it, and love it. Don't argue about it.
