Game over? Just because the ps4 is in higher demand than the xb1 doesn't mean MS is performing poorly. The console generation is JUST BEGINNING. It's far too early to be talking about game over.... Especially when the must have titles have yet to arrive.

What are you talking about? These things aren't secret. The game documentation explains the progression system well enough, and turn 10 has been in the media explaining the various ways to earn credits prior to launch.

This article exists to counter misinformation that has been spread by people who lament the mere existence of MTs, but have spent no time with the actual game.

The article IS needed because the internet would have you believe that without microtransactions, the game would be a strenuous grind. The truth is, turn 10 allows you to unlock cars at an respectable pace without ever having to touch an MT.

But doesn't costco want to increase their member rolls? If I had the best deals on the hottest electronics, I'd want people to know it. And you'd think a wholesale club would naturally be a poachers paradise...

it seems to me costco needs to better advertise that they have them in stock. its strange that folks are paying nearly $700 for xbox ones on ebay, because they cant seem to find them at retail, yet this store has plenty. if i was a scalper, i'd be all over this...

No, it's really not as far off as you think. Project Flare, for example, handles ALL of the calculations in a low latency, cloud network environment. Once a frame is processed, it streamed back to the user like any other video or game stream.

anyone who's internet allows them to watch HD videos on netflix, use twitch,tv or utilize services like Gaikai, or Onlive, has a strong enough connection play a game created using something like the Project FLARE. so essentially...

You don't understand. This is not a game steaming service. This is a game engine designed to run in a cloud environment.

Unlike gaikai, which runs a game on a single virtual machine, and send it back to the user...project flare is an engine that facilitates a game linking multiple virtual
machines together to perform all of the games calculations (IE, cloud computing). Azure IS a network of virtual machines. To actually deliver a game to market, project flare woul...

I dunno, the facts that this game 1)already won a ton of game of show awards and 2) is getting a ton of positive previews from gamers and media, are both in direct conflict with your comment that 'no one gives a crap'

Coupled with the fact that titanfall and mech warrior are completely different and unrelated games, you've got quite a fallacy on your hands.

To be fair , the employees of Respawn, formerly of IW, only put out 4 COD games over the course of eight years. The other COD games were handled by different studios.

Not to mention, they had been working on other IPs, but their parent company forced them to focus on COD, which lead them to depart.

I don't thong pepper act like that at all. people expect things to improve with both consoles over time. Sony fanboys just seem to take any positive outlook on the xb1 as a knock against the ps4

Xbox users should be able to take comfort knowing that developers are gaining familiarity with the nuances of their system without Sony users taking offense.

The playstation 4 is undoubtedly more powerful, but developer familiarity with hardware can lead to inter...

@mmj You really need to get off of this 720p thing. The xb1 isn't "targeting" 720p. In fact their are more 1080p games than 720p games on xb1.

There's no doubt that the ps4 is more powerful, but just because a couple games (most notably poorly optimized last gen ports) failed to reach 1080p at launch on xb1 doesn't mean it won't be the standard throught the generation. Performance is known to improve with time.

GDDR5 wasn't a le...

Well, that's inevitable, considering their are 80million 360s vs a potential 5mil Xbox 1's. That said, the 360 version isn't a direct port, and the xb1 version will no doubt drive Xbox 1 hardware. Especially the inevitable bundle. There's a good chance titanfall and halo will help MS avoid a price drop until next Christmas.

That the beauty of competition, companies try to gain position on each other. Xbox fans can thank Sony for games with gold as soon as PS fans are done thanking MS for PSN and PS+ .

PS+ wasn't created out of Sony's need for generosity. It was done so that Sony could begin to draw the revenue needed to create a service that could compete with Xbox live.

Well, I think it was already clear that ps4 was in higher demand, but there has been some ineffective use of data here.

This data only tallied NA sales. It's widely known that Sony shipped more consoles to NA for their launch than MS did. Naturally, that means there were more ps4s to be potentially resold that week. The analyst should have been more interested in the percentage of consoles sold at retail that were subsequently resold on eBay.

Then, there&...

They will eventually need a price cut, but as long as there are ps4 shortages, there is no reason to hurry.

Also, they don't need to have a lead on Sony in order to be successful in this space, they just need to have a respectable market share. We as gamers focus too much on individual units sales instead of market share. Microsoft was behind Sony by 20% when they first entered the market, and closed the gap to less than 1% last gen. All signs point to both consoles enjoy...

No, I advise you read up a bit more on project flare, it's cloud computing AND game streaming.

It's not cloud computing for consoles atm, but it is a proof of concept for it. It's like onlive or gaikai, in that user inputs are transferred via the internet, and the result is transferred back to the user via the internet.

Where it differs from those services, however, is that instead of a single server handling a single instance of a game, multiple ...

Nice. The potential of the cloud is real, no matter what N4G says.

Lol ps4 doesn't need to outsell xbox in the name of developer freedom. The economics already handled themselves. People won't buy things if they don't see value. Folks didn't see the value in Microsoft's policies, so the changed them. Problem solved.

Some games lend themselves well to movie adaptation. The problem is, the games that Hollywood choses to use aren't the ones that should be making that transition.

Often, movie adaptations would be better served to share a games universe instead of taking protagonists and plot points directly from games. When you try to cram a 10+ hour story into hrs, it's going to lead to shoddy story telling. At the same time, you don't want to dramatically alter an existing ...
