Kojima has given us Snatcher, SD Snatcher (msx - a gem in its own and accurately fan translated), Policenauts (accurately fan translated), Zone of the Enders 1 & 2, the whole 8 installments in the Metal Gear series, and dont forget his first quality game Penguin Adventure (msx). Kojima has a good track record in regards to story, gameplay, and attention to detail.

On one hand, yes, there is an exorbitant amount of "realism" added to games recently but that is OFTEN offset by silly or surreal things like (in this case of Death Stranding), Floating tar ghosts from Hades and baby incubators you can wear on your chest. :/ In RDR2, we had ghosts and sasquatch and unrealistic pricing models :) But for some, when people are stuck unable to "go out and experience everything life has to offer" ...
