It may have great art and gameplay, but that doesn't technically make it next gen. There are things the hardware just cant do compared to the coming consoles.
Must have for vita! One of the few true gems from the wii.

But, third party support, hardware(power) play a major role in longevity/support, and services. Nintendo isn't doing well in these areas compared to the competition. I like their games, but I can really live without the hardware.
If all it's good for is 1st party, than why should Nintendo continue to make home consoles? Seems like it would be better if they'd go third party.
Being from SoCal is kind of surreal. I can't wait!
These are my main issues that were addressed in Dark Souls for the better.
- grass and spice hoarding (abused)
-op magic (abused by spice(spamming) and pvp)
- weight burden(an annoyance having stockpile thomas hoard everything)
- Tendency was more of an annoyance in obtaining items and accessing areas than difficult(having to commit suicide and play offline so it wouldn't change).
Demons Souls was good, but it wasn't to the extent of Dark ...
hah
Agreed. It's the one event where the world takes notice of games. Even non gaming media outlets cover E3 to some degree. This is the time Nintendo really needs to impress.

:D
Oh yeah, because Nintendo hasn't milked a franchise/character.
reflection?
I think Nintendo still has it's place, but I can do without their hardware. Third party on home consoles would be great.
E3 is that one time where the world watches video games. Even non gamecentric media outlets cover E3.
Why do people treat these review sites as if they are only conprised of one conscience/ opinion?
The Dreamcast had games I wanted to play.
Yeah, they had the same price point at one time.
Seeing how sub par the Wii-U has been, I'd expected Nintendo to have big press E3 conference when the world is watching. This recent news, has been surprising indeed.
With such an epic name, what do they call future boxes?
Nintendo has sub par third party support, online services, and hardware compared to competition. Unless they make some radical changes. It's their first party that keeps them alive(in terms of the home console) so why not go third party?
Lets keep this about Nintendo. Sony/MS still have consoles that are selling and continue to have third party support unlike the wii. They clearly have longevity in mind when designing consoles/services.

HHG was garbage and made the site almost unbearable at times.
