By one perspective, yes i agree. But business is multidimensional perspective. If competition drives them, that, is Microsoft release Scarlett Pro becomes the best place to play 3rd party games, Sony might consider to release PS5pro.

I think even by now they're considering it. I am sure they have plan B, but time will tell if they will ever release it.

It only needs Switch 4 to compete PS5 & Scarlett

Dragon Quest consistently has wonderful music throughout the series

For us, core gamers, specs justify the price, but Sony not only thinking about us, they are also thinking about mainstream console gamers in the world.
For me, US$599 or even US$699 would look cheap if the specs are monster, but can i afford it? That's a different question.

This is the best we can do right now

No 3D fighting game?. At least put Virtua Fighter 1 on the list. And racing genre is represented by Burnout? It's more a car-crashing game than an actual racing one, why not Gran Turismo or Outrun?. And even i'm not a fan, they should put Devil May Cry as a father of true hack and slash action games.

I respect other's opinion, but the list should be "IGN's 100 most favorite games". This is an insult to gaming journalism.

Their IPs are not that strong, by which i mean mostly niche, not quite relevant with today's mainstream definition. Reviving one of them and make it mainstream is such a tough job. Developing a new IP? will they think about it...?

There are three kinds of development in Square Enix :
1. The one with ambition too high, with FF XIII Versus to FFXV, and FFVIIR resulted in very lo~ng development
2. The one with ambition too low, with low-quality background image of FFIX port and wavy polygon in FVIII Remastered (yes, they called that wavy polygon a "remastered")
3. The one who remaked an IP with a good intention but also with a wrong treatment, that is Secret of Mana PS4 which didn'...

The most unfortunate thing is that DQVIII made it's way to a weak 3DS. It could have been better on PS3 or Vita, or wait till Switch's release. The 3DS port was so disappointing.

Lol. Well, actually, PS3 was less successful when a person stayed in his position for too long. He was and is a great person to be written with golden ink in history, but that's how the world works...

Change isn't only inevitable, it's necessary...

It hurts to see gaming laptop when it's in it's 4th or 5th year, not powerful enough for new games and not portable enough to just do some office work, because it's usually bigger than mainstream/office laptop.

Well, just imagine, when Marvel Game universe collaborate with Spiderman game into one universe just like the movie. The difference is, to completely enjoy that universe, people have to buy PlayStation since Spiderman is Sony's exclusive.

The ones who gave you disagrees might not have touched any controlllers in '98, it's 21 f*cking years ago you see...
At least gamers in their 30s knows the greatness of 1998...

2323d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

1998 was a year when many developers have taken most advantages of revolutionary 3D gaming (graphic, genre, storytrelling, and other creativity), not only console, but arcade as well.

After 1998, there's no "Year of the Game", not that there's no good games or no good year after that, but, it's just no year that's as memorable as 1998.

He's not completely wrong. In PS3/X360 era, shooters dominated the generation, the rise of western gaming and downfall of Japanese gaming.

Not only traditional J-RPG are quite small in numbers compared to PS2 era, even Japanese games tried to look like western those days.

Then DS became the safe haven for traditional J-RPG, eventhough i don't think that was the main reason why DQIX landed on DS.

The problem is, many Spiderman games come and go. But only Sony & Insomniac could take it to higher level.
License it to another Developer/Publisher, and we won't see Insomniac's Spidernan quality.

That's the main reason why i never get into that kind of mainstream openworld. Freely killing NPCs. Some titles might even reward the players in doing so....
That's too absurd...
