I predict next-gen will be Sony's last in the realm of hardware. They've lost too much important ground. Microsoft has the network effect to help them fight off Nintendo's early launch. Sony has no ace in the hole, and they only have themselves to blame for the position they've found themselves in.
That's largely a myth promoted by Fox News and their associates. They push a "don't trust anyone but us" mentality, which leads to a lot of the current hostility and intense tribalism in our political discourse.

Exclusive DLC, exclusive ad campaigns, exclusive console bundles, exclusive launch parties, etc. This became so successful that they no longer had to rely on exclusives. Warrior farm SUCKS. Tried farming him for a Conference Call for like 5 hours one afternoon. Didn't drop a single legendary item, let alone the one I was looking for. Gearbox needs to do something about the loot. It sucks killing that fool over and over with a majority of the gun drops being white.
Same goes for Terramorphous. Terrible loot, and they're going to nerf the way to kill him in under 30 seconds. Nobody is gonna bother farming him for minutes at a time with ...
The Xbox 360's success has proven that games don't matter as much as advertising. If you cram consumer faces full of "XBOX XBOX XBOX" all day on TV, they'll buy your thing regardless of the quality. I wouldn't expect too much beyond Kinect exclusives. Expect more timed-exclusive DLC and more of the same 4 exclusives they always release. Halo, Gears, Fable, Forza.

They certainly can, but there's almost always an imbalance. Like I believe EA has some really passionate gamers on their payroll... and they're chained to their desks in the basement. The greedy businessmen run every inch of that company.
That's been fairly obvious all along. You can always tell the difference between companies that have a genuine passion for gaming, and those who only have a passion for profits. It's really hard to fake.
