I want them to either stop using unity, for unity to get better, or for them to make their own engines. I also think people should stop being armchair developers unless they put their money where their mouth is or at the very least learn enough to have an informed opinion.
Most of them are using unity or similar engines, those that make their own engines seem to do better. These game engines make it easier to make a cross platform game, but they don’t seem to run as well as we would like. Even games that seem simple can struggle on consoles when they use unity or unreal engine 4. Next gen I don’t think this will be a problem.
You know what grinds my gears, armchair developers.
They can for now because people still trust them, but that will erode soon enough I imagine.
i wish that was the case, but it’s not looking like this is true. Apex legends was a good example of how much impact streamers have on gamers, who are mostly adults. There has even been some horrible games that sold well on pc thanks to streamers.
*yawn*
I think they realize people in general care more about streamers than e3 in 2019.
“Something to note in this scene:
Mads' hair moves independently of his head, swinging a little bit. Depending on your tech constraints, this can be a huge pain to deal with from a rigging and animation standpoint. Kudos to the rigging team who worked on this.”
Give your head a shake if you think that is breaking down tech, I’m disappointed at how clueless some people are.
You think I’m getting owned, I think none of you have coded a single line of code in your life.
“Sure, if the decima engine doesn't handle anything to do with graphics processing, both textures, overlays, post effects, lighting, and more.”
Nice straw man argument, no tech in the game was described and that statement doesn’t prove otherwise. Christopher is ranting, but not really even talking about what was said. Its a nice strawman argument, but it’s annoying.
...
How dare you!
ya its so simple psn has only been hacked 10 times, nintendo should just throw caution to the wind.
Oh I understand the term tech, I’m a developer myself. I fear I’m going over everyone’s head here. Xavier himself knows the difference, which is why he didn’t say he was breaking down the tech because he really isn’t. He hasn’t given us any deeper understanding of the decima engine or how it’s used, he is only talking about the art and touching on the type of limitations artists have in general.
And yes it would be hard for him to describe the tech behind a game he didn’t ...
A little, but only in the context of an artist. I was expecting something in the context of a programmer, which would fit the description.
Why do publishers insist on letting their employees talk to the media like this? There is a reason companies have pr teams, but now it’s just pr nightmares.
Not to mention final fantasy 7 remake looks like a dumpster fire of a game so far, the gameplay looks even worse than 15 at this point.
That’s not a tech break down, that’s him talking about the art. Although to be fair he is speaking from the perspective of someone who actually works with programmers to make his art work within limits of the game engine.
Nice! The soc in the Apple TV 4K is the fastest for a device of its kind. Maybe this will get the ball rolling on some interesting games.
The future is running games on someone else’s computer? If that’s the case I quit gaming.
They started losing revenue, so now they are trying harder. Happens all the time.
