@sactown: MS's entire show was fun. Great pacing. So many games. And some surprises. The Halo Engine wasn't cgi, but the fact you think that does bode very well for them.
Pretty much. Which is good for gaming overall. Now if only Rockstar would announce a PC release for Red Dead.
I do think it is right. The issue is that in games even if they aren't role playing games, you do role play. A friend of mine has this issue with a lot of games because she just doesn't want to play as guys in games. And I do get that. Just make it a choice. Like is being done here.
Hopefully this will really amp up the competition. It's not like Intel is new to the game, they have made very good integrated GPU's for quite some time. Not good for gaming of course, but still good for what they were meant for.
I think the issue is that Sony showed no surprises. And the games they showed even though we already know about them they have no release windows except for Spiderman. But worse than that, their show was just kind of depressing. All this sad music and sad trailers. It wasn't just a bad mood but it also came across as being pretty pretentious. Plus the games just didn't really look that fun to play. Well except for Spiderman, that looks hella fun.
Hopefully nobody had to watch that Sony thing in its entirety. I got bored even with fast forwarding through it.

I really just hope the Play Anywhere initiative takes off. Our PC's will always be better. Just make it so we can play more games with friends on Xbox. Wasn't a big fan of Sea of Thieves as far as the actual game, but being able to play with my friends on Xbox while I was on PC was amazing. Needs to be available on third party games though too. For example Red Dead and Anthem. I will always prefer PC, but I will also always have a lot of friends on Xbox and PS4. Sony will probably nev...

@bathy: I will wait for your video when it releases showing this exact outcome lol. The word deterministic in games means scripted. There is only one possible outcome in every situation. You will never be able to reproduce this in game unless it is scripted.
Games are scripted to have gameplay. Gameplay itself is not scripted. Well not normally. Sometimes it is for making cutscenes.
Pretty crazy that it runs better on an iPhone. Switch is so underpowered.
The word he used was deterministic, which means they scripted the exact animations and outcome of the gameplay shown. That is in essence fake gameplay. And that is fine. It is a demo. I would caution that this demo might come back to haunt them later though if people try to hype it up as real.
So hyped for this. Game of the show. We need more developers like From.
Yeah, I am not worried about seeing my clothes while playing. Plus 1st Person perspective let's us see our weapons and other items so well. It is a good trade off. I like all kinds of perspectives in games but 1st Person always feels the best to me. Unless the engine is terrible and field of view is so small it makes you sick. But that is rare and I trust CDPR to do this right.
As long as there is new tech available to make it better they should release a new iteration. No reason to hold developers back.
