I say PS4 in 2 years at least.
It does not necessarily mean another console will not be released at any time within that life cycle.
The PS3 was released 6 to 7 years into the PS2's life cycle, yet support for the PS2 has not stopped. Meaning its life cycle continues regardless of whether a new console has been released or not. Same cannot be said for GambeCube or Xbox. Those have been dead for a while.

Let me elaborate on their differences.
Gears is built around multiplayer gameplay.
Uncharted is built around single-player gameplay.
There are several gameplay elements in UC that don't exist in Gears(climbing, platforming).
Gears is a more straight forward run, cover, shoot.

While harsh, yes, I do agree.
While I have had my time with the 3DS playing Pilotwings and SF4(a game I already have 2 versions of) I cannot bring myself to purchase one. Their most recent release, Ocarina of Time, is not enough. I have played most of these re-releases/remakes more than once before. I'll wait to see how the Super Mario game does. But I need more than just that.

You'd have to be in complete denial to think that many GameBoy/Nintendo DS owners haven't bought a PSP as well, like many of us.
Granted, if it matters to you, yes Nintendo has more DSs sold than PSP. They obviously have been around longer and have a lot of experience in the handheld department.
BUT Sony has managed to sell about 70mil PSPs worldwide.
I think Sony has successfully managed to tear into the handheld market in general :)

Many people still believe games are a kids thing.
So even if a violent/sexy game is sold and given a mature rating, they think it's somehow being marketed to kids.
It's up to those adults and parents to not allow/buy those games to kids.

If the SP experience remains intact and improves from one game to the next AND the MP is actually good, I don't see a problem with it.

Now why would you bring the PSP into this?
It may not be flooded with kid-friendly or casual titles but it has plenty of solid quality games too. Research is good.
My library of DS and PSP games is pretty equal.
The Wii is not solely made up of "kids" games. It has many teen-mature games as well. BUT look at how they market it! Walk down the Wii and DS aisle!
