I'd just wait for VitaTV unless your going to be playing alot on the go or on the toilet.
I'd rather play some vita games on my big screen.

I'd never play it if I was getting a Xbone.

It's always this zoomed in camera. The camera's not that close when your actually playing the game. I get that they want to show off the details but why not show what the game looks like when your behind center as well, the way your actually going to be playing it?

Why even bother? It's been 7-8 years. Waiting isn't going to do anything unless you wait it out for a price drop. That will take years. People will be buying these up like rabid dogs launch day & I will be right there in the pack.... at midnight to get my PS4 :)
Sony will send the PS4 update on a disc if you contact them & request it. IDK if that applies to all future updates.
Ah demo discs, one of the great things of the past.
I was assuming that contacting Sony at launch or before launch for the update disc would get it in your hands quicker than waiting for the games to release that have the update on them. I'm assuming the update could not be on any of the launch games.
Putting it on the game discs is another good option though.
#1-3: I assume they are working on the update or were working on the update as the consoles were being manufactured so if that's the case, these aren't really options.
It still doesn't need an internet connection to function. You can open the box, hook it up & start playing games can't you?

You really don't need an internet connection for the PS4.
You would have to contact Sony & have them send you a disc with the update on it in order to get blu ray functionality going. You could also get someone to put the update on a flash drive for you if possible. Kind of sucks but it's definately doable & you can play games right out of the box.
Technically internet isn't required to play your games at least on the PS4. IDK or care how MS is handling it...

I went & saw those videos on youtube & it does seem to be alot more going on here than in Borderlands. Alot of info still needs to come out about the game but that will come in time.

Actually my oppo blu ray player supports flash drives & external HDDs. You just plug it into the front usb. I'd still like to have it on PS4. It's more than capable of custom soundtracks too.
I really think support will be added if people express their interest. I think the main focus is on the games & getting everything up & running after launch.
Hopefully these features will be added down the road.
From my understanding there is no monthly fee. It's not a MMO even though the videos look like it is.
Weirdly enough, my interest in the game hinges on how the coop & the vehicles are implemented. I wasn't interested till they teased vehicles to get around in.
It just looks like a Borderlands set up. Maybe a bit more elaborate. Hopefully it's alot more elaborate in gameplay & cooperative play.
They still got to give more info if they want to sell me...

They do have benefits that PC doesn't.

I knew Resogun & Contrast where coming but I wasn't expecting Binary Domain & Dragon's Dogma:DA for the PS3. I haven't ever played KOA either. Yeah, & the PS4's coming in "TWO WEEKS"!
With AC4 & all the free to play stuff I'm going to have a serious backlog of games. I'm not complaining, I just don't know when I'll get to play them all.
