Maybe the core gamers. The mainstream casuals will be done with it in about the same time they were done with the Wii.

Yeah I was awaiting the "PSVR sold x amount in the first week yadayada articles" I was let down.
VR is a novelty item. It's what's hot right now because it's a new experience but I just don't see it ever being the mainstream medium for entertainment.
If I had a business I would wait it out and see where it goes as well. Obviously console peripherals have been hit and miss.

It will only work if the system plays the latest games even if the graphics are toned down it just has to have them.
And as far as battery life goes. I wouldn't expect much, 4-5 hours tops.
True, and being the device still has ability to offer TV play they can still make high tier console games without relying on selling another piece of hardware.

I always buy physical but will buy the same game digital through flash sales for a tenner or so for the convienance of digital.
I don't know what people do with their controllers and stuff. Mine has no signs of deteriation and I use it a lot. Unrelated: my day one Dualshock 4 controller also doesn't have any wear either.

The ram argument is stupid. My cell phone has 4gb ram, PS360 had 512MB of ram and look at what was accomplished there. We have 6 to 8 times more memory than last gen but games certainly aren't 6 to 8 better in quality. Hell most are being "remastered".

Because I'm supposed to convince my real world friends that they should go and buy/build a "gaming PC" and tell them how they need to move their furniture layout for a computer station or help them set up a TV with wireless M/K and hope they don't call me everytime a game doesn't work 100%.
or you can buy a console for 250 with games and plug it right in and be done with it.

I used to think backward compat was just a waste of time and money and really not needed after a few years of new console releases. But Ms has done a great job with 360 BC and it's going to great having past, present, and future games playable on the same console.

Why? Because what "PC" gamer would sell his console when MS is rolling out "Xbox play anywhere".
And don't come back with " because I don't use Win10" as that would mean you can't play Xbox games on your PC therefore sending exclusivity back to CONSOLE.
This is what people need to think about when they support online only or digital only future. You simply cannot rely on the internet.
Of course the hate train is rolling into the station but truth is this can happen to any game on any platform that stores player data on servers. You have to accept that your progress in online play is only valid as long as the servers are operating properly.
