I think openly, they would say they're not doing anything. But now is a really weak time for WoW, with a couple of months until the expansion. Hell, even I would try WAR if I wasn't on the Lich King beta already :P

I think it looks fine, some people just want to get that chip of their shoulder.
The armor will keep the same models, but as you said, the skin is being changed. The fully updated skins aren't on the beta yet, but knowing Blizzard, they'll be great :D
