I hear that, it is inconvenient but would I rather have shorter game on one disc or swap? I think that answer is pretty evident.
Here's what you don't take into consideration. Making games costs a crap load of money. A game is not deemed a success unless a sequel is warranted. All of the time and effort put in sometimes building an engine, writing a story, designing characters, and worlds, it all costs money. When gamers demand a sequel and will buy it, it can't be considered wrong for a game developer to give fans what they want and are willing to pay for.

Theres no hiding because even if they push it back they are still gonna run into gears of war 3. Should be popular on the PS3, well that is unless Killzone 3 comes out, but who knows how it will do commercially.
