because SOLD numbers dont matter in the gaming world at all. developers dont make money on what stores sell to you. the part where they make their money is when they actually ship their product to the store.
companies dont ever really bring up how many of an item theyve "sold" because its almost impossible to keep track of. plus, once you ship a certain amount to a store, 9 times out of 10, that store is going to sell out of the shipment you brought them.
