Your an idiot bluebrad1974 , Cell was designed for PS3 which happens to includes blu-ray drive. Just happens Cell is very good at streaming data off a Blu-ray disc. Which has already been used to good effect in 'Ratchet & Clank'. Too able very high quality textures too be streamed from a Blu-ray disc. Cell has loads of other uses as well as it's a very flexiable chip.

Kuest - The point I was making is that the 360 core has far less standard features than the 40Gb PS3. So you lose PS2 BC,but you gain Wi-fi,40Gb Harddrive, Wireless pads, Blu-ray drive. Could you buy all that hardware for $120, exactly no. Which ever way you look at it, the 40Gb PS3 is far better value than the 360 core. Even compared to the 360 premium, the 40Gb PS3 is better value, as you get the Blu-ray dive as standard.

The 40Gb PS3 compared to the 360 core, the 40Gb PS3 is by far the better option. It's worth the price just for the Blu-ray drive alone.

The new SKU and price drops have been going for under a month. There is no way that the 40Gb PS3 can be seen as a flop, as it's barely out in high numbers yet. The 40Gb PS3 has't even launched in US/Japan/India/China/Korea. Untill the sales numbers come in from the region's that the 40Gb PS3 has launched in. This is all speculation and total bullsh*t.

Alot of them games arn't canned, they just switched from last gen platforms to next gen platforms. Some may just be on hold for the time being.

Price was the reason PS3 was slow selling, the new SKU or price drops hav'nt happened yet in US. Motorstorm which is a exclusive game proves otherwise, when it come too exclusives selling PS3 hardware.

Your comparing PS3 which has'nt been out a year too 360 which has been out over 2 years. Call that a fair comparison.
The 40Gb is not due till 2nd Nov in US.
HD DVD uses tripple layers to reach a max of 51GB which is incompatible with existing HD DVD hardware.Existing HD DVD hardware supports 15Gb single layer/30Gb double layer. Blu-ray uses 4 layers to reach 100Gb(which requires a firmware update for older blu-ray to remain compatible). Blu-ray can support 25Gb single layer/50Gb Double Layer/100Gb 4 layer & even 200Gb 8 layer is possible.
I don't see a problem with what Sony is/is'nt doing with BC, it's not a priority right now. Saying that it's still could be possible in the future using just software for BC on all PS3 SKU's.

Compression is not always a good solution as uncompressing on the fly is very hard on the CPU.
BTW Cell(256Mb)ram & RSX(256Mb)ram. Both Cell & RSX can share ram pools.
