Good AI is what makes good games GREAT games. Bad AI is more often then not a lack of polish / rushed title.
The only way not to get any spoilers these days on a game you really want is to not look at ANY articles about it. BTW there seems to be consensus from the reviews that AC lets the cat out of the bag in the first 5 min of the game.
It seems like this game got released just a little too soon for it's own good and it being multiplat. UBI probably stretched the resources a bit thin IMO.

BTW: Orange Box is nothing special (not GOTY material IMO) - it looks dated not really on par with what 360 has to offer lately. Portal is the best game in there - wish it was longer.
