It's really all about the games for Japan. They want a gazillion of RPGs, which you won't find many of on the PS3... not that the X360 has too many great ones either, but they're there.
I don't know much about the sales and all those numbers, but I'd guess that the handhelds are selling very well in Japan. I bet the PS3 will sell way more once such games start getting released on it.

No, RE4 had the same terrible issues with controls. Sure, you're supposed to be "omfg I have to survive this, what to do what to do?? run for your life!" while only thing make it hard is the retarded controls and nothing else. There's no logic whatsoever... Why can't he sidestep in RE4? Why can't he shoot while moving? It has nothing to do with "it's horror", it's just developers stupidity.

No, they won't fix it. I don't believe they fixed RE4 either... It had the same issues, and you couldn't even strafe in it. If I recall correctly, the port to the PC didn't even make it possible to use the mouse to aim with.

What? Gears 2 was a lot of fun in single player, and a great challenge (sometimes unfair) on insane difficulty. The Co-op was almost perfect as well.
However the multiplayer was very poor... if you compare it to Epic's Unreal Tournament for example. I have no idea how they managed to screw the multiplayer up that bad, but single player was really great in my opinion.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but there's no kind of power-ups? No alt-fire? And just standard guns, machineguns, sniper and shotgun? Does it have any kind of signature weapon of some sort?

Their video reviews are both amusing and give me the info I'm looking for along with gameplay footage of what they hate/like. However, I rarely buy anything just because of a review... Most important for me is that I find the gameplay footage attractive and controls are decent.

Yea... that's YOUR opinion. This is THEIR review, they can say whatever they want, it's just their opinion. If people who base their purchase on reviews only, that's their problem.
I'll have to agree with you on that one. But still, the game did get hell of a lot hype, and of course people expect the best of the best. Someone will say it's the best game of all time, others will play it for the hype's sake, and some will just say "meh, I had more fun with <insert random title here>", because that's what games are... it's not like a religion where you say "hey, I wanna worship Judas, screw Jesus and God".

But yes, it's still terrible that there hasn't been done anything about the problem even after they offered to fix the broken ones. I mean the 360's that got produced after the problem confirmation to the public.
I wouldn't really mind if my 360 broke, then I'd have a good reason to buy an elite or at least 60GB version since I'm stuck with a 20GB hdd atm ;<
