The article is saying know your audience and all. But Microsoft made their research and knew their audiences. What they didn't know is that Xbox Fans are mostly blind fan. They were ok with whatever MS does. So MS had no idea they were doing something wrong.
Even after the DRM and Always online was announced I remember reading some Xbox Fan be ok with it because MS was going to introduce a 10 sharing game plan with Friends, they were ok with the 24 hours check online required and ...
I have to agree with you. Competition is good for gamers and that is why I am grateful for MS and the Xbox360. They really pushed Sony to have release an amazing System after all the problems they faced with PS3.
But I also like healthy competition. MS forcing parity on games is not really good for the "gamers". I hope this gen developers take full advantage of the power of the PS4 and do not downgrade their game because of the Xbox One.
