@Foxtrot
Phil confirmed in an IGN interview after E3 that Rare are off Kinect working on some existing IP.
Notch was not forced by MS to sell Mojang or leave. Read his blog post.
So Bloomberg were right, Xbox will be keeping Minecraft on all platforms.
I see a lot of gaming sites are missing the fact, WSJ and Bloomberg reported that the deal involves keeping the game on the current platforms as that's were all the revenue is being generated. Hence why the hefty price tag.
@Castillio
If the deal goes through the release will be unaffected, as it states MS intentions are to keep it on the platform, as it will generate a large income.
the article states, if the deal goes through Minecraft will stay on the current platforms, including PS4, PSV. So currently the profit generated by Minecraft would continue and hence why $2B buyout is being offered.
That's actually a really good opportunity.
@drathv72
It is the exact same thing, Sony purchased those three studios after working with them as a publisher. And as of now currently own the studios.
@foxtrot
The principal is still the same, MightyNoX started bashing MS for buying studios, when Sony does the same thing, despite previously being 2nd party, one of the best studios, Sony has was not built by Sony from the ground up.
But doesn't Sony do the same thing? ND, sucker punch, media molecule. All great acquisitions. Can't just blame one company.
Can't tell anything right now....
No matter what company, you can't really expect them exec's to admit mediocre sales.
Thats just from one retailer, they hold around 2% market share. If you read the article they're the smallest retailer selling the console.
Doubt MS would need to do that, They own the IP.
Yes, They own the IP and trademark.
IP owned by MS.
To be fair MS do have COD for advertising, Sony have some games too though.
@HappyWithOneBubble
Yeah like sony have not been childish. This ad by MS is noway childish, just a smart tactic.
Why are people complaining over the MS viral ad, I have to admit it was pretty clever, knowing it's a big game and a new IP, and advertising some very good deals. This in no regards undermines Sony's ad campaign.
Technically they're not violating the deal Activision have with Sony, as this site is advertising "Destiny Fragrance", and the content only advertises the console deals MS have in place. It actually clever.
It's gonna fail but at least they're trying.
"Video games were already big during the PS2 era and M$ wanted to steal market share"
Dafuq? Is that not competition? Or MS should of shared the consumers? /s
"They can not risk taking chances on new IPs like Sony does with Naughty Dog"
That's a little true, but recently things have shown MS are investing in new IP's - QB, SSOD (Although not owned), Ori, D4, Project Spark. They do have to step up on that basis but ...
