Out of fifty hours of multi-player and twenty hours of singleplayer (hard and then elite) I've never witnessed the frame rate drop to an amount where the game was unplayable.
The controls don't need fixing, I suggest if you don't like them then play another game. I for one love them, I think they suit the game perfectly.
