While I don't own one myself; I wouldn't go to that extreme. It had some pretty interesting ideas.
I'm thinking this is an unsubstantiated rumor. And as far as I have heard, nothing about a successor is no where in sight for the next 1 or 2 years.

These articles seem to be a dime a dozen around the net. Do they affect me at all? Nope! I am a gamer. I play video games; on various systems.
Am I hardcore? Nope! I find the label to be the absolute silliest title one can give themselves. It smacks of someone who has to validate their hobby (yes, a hobby) to the world. If one is a gamer, than so be it! Break out that NES, SNES, PS3, 360 and/or whatever console you own.
