They promised a vast simulation, several deep back stories to chose from that would influence gameplay, wall running and intense combat, a living breathing world and more. Watch Dogs Legion has a simulation that is 1000 times more advanced and far more unique ways to tackle missions set in a similarly dystopian future. A shame it got overlooked because it was lumped in with other Ubisoft games.
It's not the game they promised. Even if it didn't have one bug or glitch it would still be massively disappointing. All of the systems are so basic that many PS2 era games put it to shame in every aspect aside from graphics.

Learn not to define people by their race and give black characters these awful backstories. They say she is some ghetto kid that is one mistake away from being in prison. A white or Asian protagonist wouldn't get that back story. It's an awful stereotype to perpetuate.

(it totally is as I could sign up right now for that price) They are at a bare minimum telling me this game is worth no more than $15 as I could beat it in less than a month and that is ignoring the other games that come with that $15. Again why would I pay them $60 for it when they are saying it is worth $15? They have devalued their own product by putting it on Game Pass.
As I argue in the blog if you want to compare one of the awards to the Oscars it would be DICE or GDC as like the Oscars the winners are decided by game developers the way the Oscars are decided by filmmakers.
Fantasy is being misused here. Most of those aren't the fantasy sub genre. Notably Horizon Zero Dawn (apocalyptic futurism) FF7 (cyberpunk science fiction) and Bloodborne (Lovecraftian cosmic horror) Also as good of a game as Dark Souls is it isn't as much an RPG as an action game. Very few characters or world building of note and not many choices or dialog options. It's as bare bones as they come. I would probably give the best fantasy RPG title to Oblivion.
