Yeah, well, that's just, like, their opinions, man.
Typical.
Deadly Premonition really is a once in a generation game that surprises and confounds you. A lot of people don't get it because they can't look past the graphics (even though there are parts that have had a lot more graphical work done to them) or the wonky combat mechanics. However, if you give it a chance and go with it, you would find an oddly satisfying survival horror which explores paths that are rarely trodden upon.
Also, one of the very few games (Red Dead Re...
It proves that most gamers are rather fed up with their policies and are angry at being treated with contempt by EA as they squeeze out as much money as they can from them. Can't blame EA for doing that when you consider how much money they wasted on the Old Republic or marking up unreasonable sales figures to continue to exist. A few notable examples would be Mirror's Edge that was supposed to sell around about 3 million copies and Dead Space 3 having to reach 5 million copies or it&...
EA brought it completely on themselves and deserve absolutely no sympathy.
Protip: Try treating your employees like actual human beings for once, stop killing off talented development studios and stop nickeling and diming your customers at every turn.
Jingoistic video games being used to raise money for army charities?
That's good? Right?
What's the point in making prequels to anything really? I mean, I already know what happened in Gears of War and God of War; so how surprising can a prequel be if you already know what's going to happen? Exactly.
Wow. There's a lot of comments here, so I'll tackle this one if I can.
@Joeorc "notice you point out companies that make mainly just Software!"
I am not sure why the writer decided to compare companies which are primarily software based. Perhaps it's to show how well-run those businesses are compared to Sony at this point? I am unsure of the writer's motives but I am guessing that comparing companies that have a stake in the game ind...
@Hatsune-Miku "Sony is on the decline but they make the highest rated and best exclusive IPs."
Cognitive dissonance is such a terrible thing. If you believe that the female Assassin's Creed cosplayer is far better front-page news than this article, that's just your opinion man.
@Freakazoid2012 "I hate agreeing with Macdonagh because of his heterosexual phobias and his need to personally attack anyone who doesnt think gays should be trea...
Damn. A double post? Okay. I might as well add another point. This warrants some serious discussion, as the numbers that are provided in the article make for grim reading. These are some seriously bad numbers and Sony are in a great deal of trouble.
Quote from the article: "Total Liabilities as of June 2012:
Total liabilities are the total amount of all financial obligations (short term and long term) of a company. This includes all creditor claims on company assets.
Electronic Arts Total Liabilities: $2.27 Billion
Google’s Total Liabilities: $21.33 Billion
Apple’s Total Liabilities: $51.15 Billion
Microsoft’s Total Liabilities: $54.91 Billion
Sony’s Total Liabilitie...
Agreed. Platinum Games knows what it means to make a fun game. Plot wise, it may be a little iffy, but it should be pretty solid.
No pun intended.
He probably needs to make money somehow considering that Sony haven't been doing much advertising.
Anyways. Video for people who felt betrayed.
I don't think I'd be alone in saying this but gamers may have difficulty in relating to a disabled protagonist. Gaming serves as a conduit for empowerment as you use an avatar to pull off the absurd that the gamer wouldn't be able to do in real life. Playing as a disabled protagonist might be hard for people to immerse themselves with, although there are examples of playing as protagonists struggling with mental illness like American McGee's Alice or Condemned 2's Ethan or...
We'll agree to disagree then PopRocks359.
Okay guys. Let's be real here and I'm just going to say it without being disingenuous. I'm not even going to talk about the ending of Mass Effect 3. I'll just explain how the game itself isn't very good.
Combat is problematic when you map 4-5 functions to the A button, lack of ammo, ammo glitching so you can't pick it up, terrible hit-box detection where headshots don't connect, repetitive enemy types, difficulty spikes and the cover system isn'...
Okay. Here's one that was just down the page.
"why do they need to validate themselves in every f***ing way imaginable... we get it; your here and your queer! we got used to it years ago... get over yourselves"
How about some general ridicule? I mean gays are a pretty easy target right? ;)
"That's totally fruity..."
"What games will be at a GaymerCon? Probably Fruit Ninja... or maybe ones tha...
Oh boy. Here we go again.
I recall writing out a blog about the whole Gaymercon thing a while back and I don't feel like repeating myself, but I'll post it here.

Here's the thing. It's going to happen regardless of the gnashing of teeth in this thread. You can either live with it and accept that some people would rather go ...
Competitive pricepoint, release in Christmas season, aggressive marketing.
There ya go.
"the only reason developers make games is for us to buy so don't try to make them look like some saints. Gaming like any other business and is based on capitalism. If Bayonetta is now exclusively on the Wii U is because of money and nothing more."
Indeed. It is about money. Sega didn't have enough money to make Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo stepped in to snap it up. Sony and Microsoft probably weren't interested because Bayonetta only sold to a million custo...
