GT5 was a train wreck with limited options and the huge difference between premium and standard cars. Many cars were PS2 ports and looked horrendous.
Lets not even talk about GT 5.5 which was called GT6. It actually reviewed LOWER than GT5.

UC4's MP resolution is also not 1080p.
Sonys relies on Indies this gen to keep it afloat with games.
Sony is making indies a big thing now because it's their crutch to lean on.
This is why indies are so big now.

MS had an INDIE montage where each INDIE game had about 3 seconds of show time.
Everyone knew Gears 4 wasn't coming out on 2015. It was just a quick demo AND they even said 2016.
Games like Sea of Thieves and Recore was shown at Gamescon.

Gears 4 was shown just to give gamers a first sneak peak.
The others you listed weren't shown other than a montage if it was an indie.
You're mixing up E3 with Gamescom where MS showed the exclusives that didn't come out that year.

This is a total damage control opinion piece.
GT has been known for 2 things, Sim racing and graphics. When it comes to features and games modes it's always been a dead duck.
To ignore the horrid textures and last gen car modela and sounds is ignoring 50% of what GT is known for.
