I was afraid this game was going to be like some of the first demos they had online, where the character was just popping up and firing, over and over. But it looks like this is actually going to be exciting considering the amount of cover and space to move between. Good times.
The future is always almost here. But never quite.
I will really need to pick this up, considering I could never be bothered to finish this game on PC, so it will be mostly a new experience for me. Plus portal looks like awesome fun.
...going to do well in Japan, period. Ever. And to tell you the truth, I couldn't care less... nearly every japanese game I've ever played for any console has been boring as **** the entire time (exception being Katamari Damacy), so I say publish more fun american games on the 360 and stop even trying with garbage like enchanted arm.
if this stuff really interests you and you want to change it, you should get going to do something about it. If there's still a possibility at your present life situation to choose whatever you'd like to do, maybe you could be the guy at MS or Sony that thinks these things up. some of them sound kind of interesting, and i see your point that online hasn't gone anywhere different yet, so maybe there needs to be more people like you at the top who care to change it. go yoU!
This game looks awesome, hopefully the gameplay will be as nice as the graphics are.
Also, is this running on DX10? Because it looks just like the DX10 demo for MS Flight Simulator, but I'd like to believe it's running on DX9 just because those DX10 demo pictures were so obviously fake. I don't buy that DX10 is going to make that much of a difference.
...what would be even better? Melee attacks *with* mechs. :D
I'll bet the other (PS3 and Wii) online networks will have more subscribers by next year, though, considering they're supposed to be free, right? Not that it will mean anything about how good they are... Live will probably still be ahead of both of them a year from now.
P.S. Before you flame me, I don't own a single Sony product, and I fully support X360 as of now. That's just my prediction considering some people are too cheap to pay $5/month for Live service.
Anyone have an alternate source for this? I hate IGN and their video player.
How many % of the market share of either 360 or PS3 actually has a 1080p HDTV right now? 4, maybe 5%? This is really going to be a non-issue until the prices of 1080p TV's go down significantly. My family just bought an HDTV about a week ago, and the fact is that it's ridiculous for the "average" person to buy a TV for more than twice the going price of 720p just to play video games or HiDef movies (which also requires another $200+ investment). Watching normal DVD's and playing gam...
Funny how they just changed the lighting (they added HDR and directional lighting, which I'm pretty sure DX9 is capable of) and the skybox on everything but the water and say that it looks amazingly better. I'm guessing you could get DX9 to look much more similar to the DX10 version if you tried, but the shots are all about pushing DX10, so...
Also, if you look at the water while switching between pictures, both versions have the same geometry and reflections (look for the ref...
...HD-DVD is winning the format war so far. It doesn't matter if blu-ray is more technologically advanced or whatever you're talking about, it's probably not going to win the format war, if simply because of the fact that people trust the "DVD" name more than blu-ray.
However, I don't really care about any of this because I'm not rich and I can't afford a 1080p TV anytime in the near future. I won't be buying a PS3 or an HD-DVD add-on, so I don't matter in the format...
PS3Land: Are you using the Blu-ray technology of the PS3 to add additional game material?
Rob: Nope.
So why does the 360 need HDMI when it only runs at 1080i anyway? I don't really get it... Anyway, I still run mine on an SDTV, so I couldn't care less.
If people like TheMART and some of the hardcore PS3 fanboys weren't here to constantly bicker about which console is better this would be a much better place to discuss these sort of things. I wish they'd all get banned so we wouldn't have to listen to this stuff anymore, because frankly I could care less about what some internet person thinks about either console.
And, Forza 2 probably isn't going to be that amazing anyway so I don't care.
I love how PS3 fans try to defend their console to the last... this can be nothing but bad for Sony, there's no way you can get around that. Less games = less gamers interested in the console = less sales. It's good for everyone except Sony and the ones who are only getting a PS3.
Why else would you vote lame for this other than the fact that you're scared? Games like this push the limits of game design, not only for the 360 but all consoles (because the bar is now raised for all future games), and that should be a good thing for everyone... but the sony fans can't get past their hatred for microsoft (which i really don't get) thus they have to vote lame on everything good for the 360.
nice youtube video of a picture... how pointless can you get? imageshack.us, people.
why would the ps3 version look any better when those are probably screens from the pc version on highest settings? PC's are already advancing past the next-gen consoles, especially with dx10 coming (and I'm not a PC fanboy, I don't even have a gaming PC, it's just the truth)
If people buy this, it is going to start developers on the path to creating incomplete games and releasing features later that you need to pay more for. You already paid $60 for the game, which is $10 more than the last gen versions, and now they want you to pay an extra $5 for something that's probably already included in the other versions? I didn't really think this would happen with the marketplace, but now I see that it is entirely possible and we, the gamers, need to tell the developers...
