I'm finding myself doing the same on XBLA, but mostly with older titles rereleased on XBLA.
Like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Rez, Ikaruga, and Soul Calibur.
I played Contra, Frogger, and Pacman when they were rereleased on XBLA, too.

What they're telling you is that the gameplay is not like that.
Pixeljunk is good. Super Stardust and Everyday Shooter are good.
But so are Ikaruga, Rez, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Soul Calibur, Braid, and Geometry Wars 2 (the game super stardust and everyday shooter wanted to be).
The difference here is that Braid really delivers a new experience. It's the best game on either XBLA or PSN.

I've heard Schizoid was average. I've not played the demo, even.

Innovation almost assuredly guarantees some kind of substance. Usually quality. I disagree. Especially when the innovation is so very well done.
You should play Braid instead of acting like it sucks (it isn't a puzzle game).
Although the original poster added really nothing to this, Vicophine hasn't even played Braid.
There is no way in hell that Pixel Junk is better.
That isn't saying Pixel Junk sucks, either, but it's not nearly the innovative and beautiful game that is Braid.

The soundtrack is beautiful, the controls are excellent, the puzzles have variety, and the bosses are clever.
You must download at least the demo if you play your Xbox 360. It is better than most games released at 50 dollars.
That's because the people who already had a 360 are getting their PS3's and don't need to buy another 360. The 360 was released a year earlier, remember? It's only understandable to see that they both have a larger lead in the amount of installed consoles and also that their sales are slowing down.

I need an honest answer as to why everyone thinks this will be so awesome.
All I saw was a gimmick in a mass-media Sony presentation (creative as it was, they used it as a big powerpoint... nothing else screams how much they're trying to push this crap to the mainstream).
And I'll be playing it if it looks like fun, but right now I guess I just don't know enough about it to look forward to it.
I think you had plenty of reasons to get a next-gen console, PS3 was your choice of the two (Wii is kinda in its own league now, last gen v2).
Although I feel like you would look down on games released on 360 and seem to have drank some of that Sony fanboy punch (you enjoyed Lair, for chrissake), I agree that there are plenty of reasons to own a PS3.

Uncharted is a fantastic title and Resistance was sometimes very creative (although I agree it wasn't more than better than average). Why don't you play some of these games instead of bashing them?
And it's extremely unlikely that this will outsell MGS4. Stop drinking the punch and realize that MGS4 is an amazing game.

I honestly am not excited at all for those other titles. Animales is somewhat interesting, but de Blob and The Conduit really don't impress me.
