I usually try to find someone who has played the game on my friends list.
I still prefer user reviews - i can usually spot trolls who have not played the game
They will have one console at the lower end of the spectrum (PSP) and one at the higher end (NGP)

Another alternative would be to re-design and re-brand the psp and aim it at the kid market while leaving NGP for older folk who can afford it.
PSP is an absolute monster when it comes to JRPGs.
Also, it just dipped below the launch price of the DS - after 5 years!. Those are some important fators.

3) i can put the game on 5 ps3s
4) On each ps3, it can be played on multiple accounts
there is just too much on the ps3 for me to indulge this crap.
There is also a little matter of software quality and traditional IPs that will not be found on tablets.

Good point....but your son was not the target demographic in the beginning.
When i bought my xbox 360 4 years ago, this was not the software experience that was promised/expected.
I was hoping for more of the same that the original xbox delivered.
