That applies to From Software as well. They don't want an easy mode, they want a challenging game. They know want they want their game to be and they don't need to be lectured by "journalists" who have repeatedly shown they lack basic gaming skills e.g. Dean Takahashi with Cuphead, Polygon with Doom etc.

Every event they hype up Gamepass rather than new games. They release trash like Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 to fill out their Gamepass offerings and offer $1 or $2 deals alongside these releases to boost subscriptions. Every 1st party releases day 1 on Gamepass. MS are going to be pushing xCloud on every device.
And before you say "but Sony", Sony actually focus on trying to deliver quality games above everything else, MS don't.
