For 10 bucks? Absolutely. It's not an epic AAA title, but it has a cool visual style, a varied but awesome soundtrack, great controls, and a bunch of collectibles. Also, it's much more relaxing than Eden since it doesn't have that god-awful diminishing life bar/time limit thing. Worth it for sure.

@Saaking - Here's one PS3 owner who's a huge fan of this game. Bayonetta was one of the rare instances where the demo for a game really spoke to what was awesome about it. The dudes at 1up are right - it's the controls that make this game shine.

There are certain games where I feel like I should go out of my way to experience them. I'm pissed as anyone about Sega screwing it up, but that's not stopping me from getting it. It looks that freakin' good.

I'd liken it t...

If that old study rings true, you've got older, fatter, depressed people playing more games, and Microsoft is deciding to... what... make fat older people more depressed through their avatars?

There are a few alternatives to losing weight in order to make your avatar look thinner. The most desirable of these alternatives is to never worry about how a stupid avatar looks. This also saves you money, as a history of buying crap for your avatar is a much worse sign of cerebral dege...

@Noctis - You know, I also hope that some JRPGs are being created for the PS3, but, well... how do I say this nicely... you may want to read the article.

We're talking about Supermassive Games, a company that will not be making JRPGs unless they move. Not that a company like that couldn't possibly emulate the style, but why would they jump away from their strengths to do that?

In other words, if we get Sqenix/Tecmo/Atlus documents talking about exclusives, there's ...

I hope that someone much, much smarter than Molyneux designs some subtle ways to use both Sony and Microsoft's MC systems that will enhance games instead of create another minigame extravaganza. Is that too much to hope for?

Okay, probably.

Played the Dante demo, and I'll give it a rent. Impressed by the out-of-game cutscenes, but not nearly as impressed by the controls. Maybe I'm just spoiled after playing Bayonetta.

GOWIII on the other hand... it could play like a ton of bricks and I'd still get it for the epic method of storytelling they do!

Yeah, at first I thought we were in for yet another unprofessional comment from NeoGAF or something. This was a fine comment to the fans. There's no problem in acknowledging your competition, and it's certainly not a "message." If each company knows what they're doing, they should know who their competitors are.

Great job on the dev's part.

To sum up the headliner: "This just in: GOW3 Dev knows there are other action games coming out next ye...

But you can't just saturate the market with the same thing at the same time either. One game like the ones you described is enough, let second/third parties take care of the rest. I think this half-year's shooter titles lived and died by Modern Warfare 2 sales, for better or worse. I'd expect a much more shooter-oriented showing at E3 this year from both Sony and Microsoft with the elephant in the room now done and over with.

Obviously, there's Halo Reach, but there should be ...

I guess... if you're Microsoft or Sony, that makes some sense. However, that doesn't line up with the new motion control initiatives, now does it? "People don't want to use standard controllers! It's an entry barrier! But hey, screw them, because people that do use standard controllers actually buy games. That's why we bought a company from Israel that made a camera/made a giant LED orb-wand, and here's our new project!" Gu-huh?

As much as I'm not a fan of the sho...

I don't get why people aren't mentioning Fission Mailed more! That was probably one of my favorite moments in gaming ever - they totally broke the "game over" trope shared by just about every video game in existence.

Actually, that whole scene is by far the best - you're being fired at with nothing to help you, no armor, no weapons, and you're naked - kinda like a nightmare. Your map turns into a weird painting, the rooms are named after parts of the digestive system...

Oh, Igarashi. Pixeljunk titles, Shadow Complex, and NSMB Wii say hello! The PSP is made for great 2D games too (Hammerin' Hero comes to mind), and the more 3d-controlling games on there hurt my hands on that stupid analog nub. Also, what is it with older creators and their fear of serious downloadable games?

A great Castlevania game needs only the support of XBLA, PSN, and/or a Wii disc to be accepted by the globe as an immense and enjoyable 2D game. The limits on size there...

It probably has to do with the start and end of fiscal years. That's usually when the new budgets get put into practice, and unfortunately that's when the boot comes out.

I feel pretty bad for QA people this year, they're getting fired left and right. Like Remember said, companies need these guys to produce and refine great games, and cutting back is a bad sign.

No, Proxy, you soon only have chaos. Didn't you listen to Kratos?

But seriously, about the actual story, I'm wondering about the news report- he "cited" that statistic. Was that from research? Why can't they tell that part of the story?

What I thought was great was the as-predicted Spec Ops: Medal of Warfare 2. Here come the flood of copycats trying to siphon off of the blockbuster, and it's never been greener or browner than this. It just makes me think of the Uncharted 2 "Next-Gen" joke filter.

Oh well. Batman AA2 is all we needed out of the VGA's, and I love how much they're playing up the arrival of Two-Face. He needs an awesome role in this game.

Yeah, Ninji, I agree. Rocksteady seems like a very resourceful studio after the way they did Batman: AA. It's not like they had an infinite skyscraping budget, and they did a great job. With a bigger budget, I think this studio is going to just succeed on a higher level.

That said, I guess there's always time to worry about some administrator high up in WB handing down impossible deadlines that kill AA2, but I really don't think that will happen. They have a bona fide fran...

I like Sega's more out-of-there IP, like Rez, Gunvalkyrie, JSRF, and Panzer Dragoon. They kinda forgot how to make good games after the original Xbox...

If they made a system, it would probably be directed at casual gamers, feature a gimmick like... I don't know, some motion-control contraption, be loaded with minigame collections, and make the entire gaming world feel like their favorite company abandoned them.

Gee, it's a good thing that no one's made that con...

I like that UC2 won, and I really like that Dragon Age Origins is getting the cred it deserves (although Demon's Souls is also amazing).

What I don't like is this: They give Assassin's Creed 2 the win over Uncharted 2 for best action/adventure game at the beginning of the show. Then, UC2 wins overall for game of the year at the end of the show. Spike, this is not 3rd grade, everyone doesn't have to win. If UC2 is the GOTY, why isn't it the winner in its own category?

Also not a fan of the article's structure. He spends the whole time talking about disadvantages to the game without a micron of context, and then says how great it is right at the end. I guess this could work in a different setting, but the way he wrote it made it a flop.

Honestly, my favorite part of the original Yakuza was the attention to detail they had for different kinds of whiskey. When I actually saw those later in stores, I had a bit of deja vu. Oh, that and the F Y...

@Saaking - Good point when you're addressing the whole company, but this was the writer that left being the Nintendo editor. Maybe we're seeing why this was. I agree with him on this one, too.

Nintendo really has lost its appeal with many of us due to its bottom-line sales strategy. They get barrels full of money in exchange, of course, so in their case, why not? I'm just not on board anymore.
