No one's playing Critter Crunch? That's a great game to wind down with after being beaten by something like BlazBlue online or Demon's Souls!

Of course, it can also get frustrating and be just as tough as the games I just mentioned, but just the colors, the laid-back tropical music, and the overall attitude of the game are enough to chill me out.

If you're just talking about graphics and some obscure expensive peripherals, which is what the article discussed, then yes, somewhere there will be much more "next-gen" games on PC. However, if you're talking about innovation in gameplay, usability, new ways of providing a narrative, style, etc., then you're talking about each console on the market right now, possibly with the exception of PSP/DS, which seem to have hit a plateau and should probably see an upgrade first.

Yup, I agree with the above, Demon's Souls really does take the cake.
However, I have split my time quite evenly between Demon's Souls and Dragon Age. They both have their strengths in almost entirely different ends of the RPG spectrum, and on both sides, those strengths are... well, freakin' strong.

I think more casual gamers would be interested in DA. I've recommended that to a few of my friends, because I know they'd enjoy it. I couldn't say that to many people abo...

When I'm listening to podcasts, reading reviews or editorials, or even just browsing forums, it seems like the vast majority of PC and 360 players are multiplayer-centric. Even my close 360 gaming friends are fixated on the latest L4D2 meetup or a session in Borderlands instead of an epic storyline or cinematic visuals. See DTrain's comment above- many use their 360's mainly for one game, such as MW2, and you sure do get your money's worth if that's the case. I wouldn't say that the 360 is...

What the heck is with the controls? It looks like he's conducting an orchestral arrangement of a Satie piano piece. I think Wii Music may have found its platform!

Swiping may work for menus, but this is ridiculous. If Microsoft wants this thing to get off the ground, they're going to have to push developers to not just screw around and put something counter-intuitive out for the sake of making a few bucks.

Then again, we all say that about the waggle, but ...

First of all, is this a GamePro Australia article or a NA-based article?

Second of all, I was initially floored by the list of flamebait in here, and I didn't enjoy reading it, but I think it *could* be a funny joke to make a top ten list of flamebait articles. It's like reading a meta-parody of the industry, except it wasn't meant to be that way!

Either it's the FFVII remake, or Nomura is laughing at each and every N4G post right now. Watching from afar, drinking 30-year-old Yamazaki whisky, and laughing hysterically.

What's the worst that could happen? I think the worst-case scenario here belongs to Wii or iPhone exclusivity myself.

My personal wish would be Einhander 2!

I fully agree with Tony Hawk: Ride being the most disappointing game of the year. Even if you expected mediocrity, it's a far fall to go from mediocre to "Hey, maybe my cat can play this game." Add extensive T-Mobile advertising throughout the game, and you've got yourself a joke. The PR made us think there was some form of money and power behind this product, hopefully some QA, making it at least palatable. It got a big chunk of time at the MS E3 presentation, for instance.

Oh man. The best part is when the dog reacts - he/she decided either to complain about the noise or interpret the howling as dog-speak.

You know, I didn't react like that physically when I got my PS1 as a kiddie, but my brain was pretty much on that level. I was so psyched to see Battle Arena Toshinden playing on my family's *huge* 32-inch screen, whether the controls actually worked or not. Marathon gaming sessions of King's Field, Cybersled, and Krazy Ivan ensued, for bett...

I think that this stream of DLC is okay to plan out and make as an extra part of the game, so long as it isn't god-awful. However, that Versus Mode-ish thing they released earlier was something a bit *too* extra, something like a 1-minute behind the scenes look on a Blu-Ray or DVD being peddled after the sale.

Gamers will pay for extra RE5 single-player content if they're substantial additions, regardless of the date of creation. Gamers paid for extra multiplayer BS for RE5 pre...

Do it. I feel like it's more Shadow of the Colossus mixed with very strict RPG rules, but really it's its own thing. It's Demon's Souls. I can't really relate it to much else, and I guess that's why it's such a strong GOTY candidate.

Asian Grindfest? That sounds like a very seedy affair that has nothing to do with Demon's Souls. It would be more accurate to call DS a rulefest actually. If you understand the structure of the game, it'll be fair to you. If you just run in expecting to chainsaw rows of badly-conceived enemies with no AI, you will die.

If you think you've just gotta level up to beat this game, you're dead wrong. Actually, hold the "wrong."

So, Wakka, what did you thin...

UC2 fans, come on. The game will win many more awards, and it already has quite a few. Let us Demon's Souls fans revel in a bit of recognition before the next GOTY is announced and we're back to the North American title discussions again.

For me, and for many people out there in the podcast/blog/editorial realm, this wasn't just a game, it was a psychological case study. The real good work that was done here was on creating a distinctive feeling of accomplishment - something t...

Oh yeah!!! It's great to see that a major publication team has the bollocks to name Demon's Souls as their GOTY. Great news. This definitely won't be the consensus around the editorial community, but it's great to at least see one award go to Demon's Souls.

Geez, ya think Atlus took a nice little risk there? The folks at Sony America that turned the Demon's Souls publishing deal down better have learned their lesson...

Free-to-play FFXIV will most likely not happen. Maybe Free Realms will see the PS3 and be "free" with microtransactions because it's Sony's game, but I don't see Sony footing the massive costs to maintain and develop a Square MMO that's also going on the PC.

I'd pay Square to keep rebalancing, updating, and expanding FFXIV if it's that good. If. Like I said above, I still haven't met an MMO that I liked.

FamicomID: (big long line of kanji)

Anyway, yeah, they're probably CGI, but I'm still very interested in how any of this will look. It's one of the factors in whether or not Square can get the single-player crowd online or not. I'm one of them. I can't stand WOW, but if this game proves it's more than a copy of WOW with chocobos, I may just jump on board.

You forgot something. Rule #1 in soundtrack composition - when in doubt, copy Carmina Burana. Heck, even Demon's Souls jumped into that rule a few times.

Wow - this trailer really shows off how detailed the character models are (clothed or not). While I'm not going to say it looks "real," it does remind me a bit of the slightly-digitized visuals of real people in "A Scanner Darkly." This is a testament to how hard this team has been working.

The combat system is extraordinary - I've posted about Bayonetta too many times, so I'll just cite that part of it regarding my opinion.

However, this blog post is just silly. It's not news. It's not even an op/ed piece - it's a guy that "asked a question" and it was labeled as news. This could have just as easily been a small forum post. He didn't answer a single thing about it.

I don't care if someone agrees or disagrees with my opinion, but if you...

It is pretty easy if you're blasting through it. As soon as I took a look at that leaderboard, though, I was embarrassed. It's not that easy when you're taking on the globe, or at least trying to make the top 1000.
