I agree with your angle. Whether what Jones said was true or false (and the answer is most likely somewhere in between but skewing true due to multiplayer volume alone), he's a manager of a consumer-driven company talking about both his customers (gamers mostly on PSN) and his potential customers (gamers mostly on XBL that may consider getting a PS3 or going back to it for MAG).

That stuff might be said behind closed doors, but it definitely shouldn't be re...

Anything involving both "Gunbird 2" and "New" is an interesting thing to follow in my book. Sure, out-of-the-loop kids like me had to find this game using emulation, but it's one of the best reasons to have MAME on the computer!

As for whether or not they'll screw it up... well, I really don't know much about this company, so there's no prediction there. If they do, I'll just go play the original.

I was fine with the study until they were talking about it being linked to poor or fair grades. That got my interest a bit.

Now, I spent quite a lot of time playing video games as a kid, but that's because I was a geek. I got my homework done for tough classes, and I got it done with good time management skills because I wanted to see what happened next in Suikoden. If I was hanging out with my friends, we were playing the latest game.

If someone were to tell me t...

As boring as the update looks, I can't wait to get 1901 by Phoenix on my Rock Band 2. I know, it's still a boring update, but that's pretty cool. Also liking that Dethklok is on Guitar Hero.

If you're an Uematsu fan, you may want to check out Kurulin Fusion for the PSP (downloadable only). It's your typical puzzle game, but it features a few tunes by Uematsu - he took J.S. Bach pieces and put his own J-techno spin on them! As a classical musician I was both laughing my butt off and impressed at the tunes!

5 bucks I think.

They should bring the Loaded series there too!

Fox, I think I get what you're saying. It would be awesome for a development team to go back, use the graphical and sound standards of Suikoden 2, and create a direct sequel picking up right after the end of 2. Kind of a Mega Man 9 project, only with more advanced tech than 8-bit stuff.

I mean, if it happened, we'd have to claw at the company to get it published in the states, but since we have a Foxgod on our side, clawing may work.

This doesn't mean that Hamauzu or anyone else won't ever be composing for a SquareEnix title again. For example, Hitoshi Sakimoto left SquareEnix in 2002 to form his own company, Basiscape, and then went on to compose music for FFT Advance, FFTA2, FFXII (and if anything's good about that game, it's the soundtrack), FFXII Revenant Wings, and most recently Crystal Defenders.

What's great about composers leaving Square is that they're not confined to them. Sakimoto has also compos...

Yeah, the Spyro thing was bad, but remember that there's also changes in-house which can ruin things. I'm looking at the obvious blue hedgehog in the room.

It's a good thing that Santa Monica is acknowledging that they don't want to Sonic 3D Blast their franchise.

So long as this game is looking like the latest screenshots we've been seeing, I'm cool with 720p upscaled. I'll stare at a 6-inch screen if I have to, so 720p is welcome for now. By next generation, the 1080p thing should be almost a given, and there will be some other big new thing we can baww about. For now, it's just not always possible.

However, the "variable framerate" thing is uh, interesting. Don't Sega-Bayonetta this game, Santa Monica!

I'm just going to point out what you're saying, TehCell, for future reference.

You're saying that Natal, only shown as a prototype and not shown with any practical game releases yet, is your "trap card" (is that a YuGiOh reference, or do you mean "trump card?"), while Sony is in the same publicly prototype-ish developmental stage with their motion controller, only with an earlier release date.

You're saying that GOWIII is the only game that So...

It seems to be solely GamePro Australia. They've done quite a few flamebait lists, including the "Most Controversial Articles" list which was hardly more than a console war posting. If you must, you can view it here, but I'd save your clicks: http://www.gamepro.com.au/s...

Wait, it couldn't play both disc-based games or movie-based games? So, all your Blu-Rays didn't work and neither did Watchmen: The End is Nigh?

I agree with you on these points, but we've hardly ever seen the more crappy aspects of not-so-amazing games get changed so well in a port or rerelease that it became a great game, especially within this work-intensive and detailed generation.

For instance, the Alone in the Dark team went out of their way to correct their mistakes and rerelease the game, but by then, the good still didn't outweigh the bad and hardly anyone took notice. It was a waste of staff, which is a giant w...

Follow Hellsvacancy's tune and wait for the new trailer/full game if you're going to just be spouting flames.

We're excited about the new trailer because yup, we got just a bit more than the same old stuff with the E3/D9 demo, and we'd like to see what's so great about the rest of the game. Did you see the newer screenshots released about a week ago? I want to see THAT in action.

It's great to hear that you have five surviving systems. I had one 40GB system, the Blu-Ray drive broke, and the repair cost didn't outweigh the trade-in fee to get the Slim. No one's saying that 100% of them were affected; otherwise it would be blatantly obvious and no one would have to make an article. I loved my old PS3, and I love my new Slim, but yeah, the exact problem mentioned in the article happened to me. Whether it's the firmware or a coincidence is completely up in the air.

@Swiftfox

That's exactly what happened to me. I installed 3.1 on my 40GB just before I took Katamari Forever home from the store. I put the disc in and it worked a bit, but the music stopped in the middle of a stage and the game subsequently froze once I left the level. I restarted the PS3, and this time there was no sound and the game froze quickly. At the second restart, the game wasn't read at all.

Like an idiot, I took the game back thinking it was the proble...

That and a mass of people that don't want to play JRPG's (including a giant proportion of 360 owners). Final Fantasy was somewhat of a blockbuster event in the SNES-PS1 days. What was gaming's last blockbuster? Do I even have to ask? I don't even want to say its grenade-spamming name.

I'm more concerned that Square will just ignore a giant amount of content. They haven't necessarily been on the leading edge of downloadable content in the past. If they're releasing this content as DLC, I'll be pleasantly surprised, albeit fleeced by my console's competitor's small disc space.
