DoS attacks on web servers is a fairly simple thing since they are inherently open to the public. The actual infiltration would have taken much more than gaining access to a web server. Yeah... but a trap for what. I follow your logic in that it would be a sneaky thing for MS to do... but not so much in what it would accomplish. Unless they wanted to gather possible IPs and that was data they didnt have before. But even that isnt fool proof since its not hard to grab a new IP from your ISP.

Halo 3?! What the hell. Reach was much better than halo 3 and that formula is very stale. Gears 3 is very promising and its obvious they've started listening to the fans as it has returned many of the aspects that made Gears 1 great.
I agree with the double barrel being lame because it doesn't add enjoyment to the game. It supports camping and run in run out scenerios. The retro lancer however I enjoy since at medium to far range the hammer burst and Lancer out class it completely.
I do agree that they've done a pretty good job of listening to what people wanted. The game plays out fast and furiously (nothing like the movie) much like gears 1 did. For that Im very thankful. However, have you guys not had the issue where the Gnasher seems unreliable? Ive been playing many times while my roommate watched (who is not a Gears player so his opinion is not swayed by previous Gears experiences) and he has said a number of times, "How the hell is that guy not down"...
I also enjoy Blizzards treatment of gamers. Not nearly as much has valve, but releasing 3 Blizzard made use map settings games for free was nice touch (even if I disagree with some of the balancing choices blizz has made with SC2). What I don't understand is how this is Valve being the bad guy. They didn't say if everyone buys an extra copy of Half Life 2 they'll launch portal early. Its funny, because I think the gnasher is too weak. I will say, my favorite weapon combo is picking up a Lancer that someone dropped and using that with the retro lancer. Those two together are incredible at handling all sorts of situations.
Really, if I could change just one thing it would be removing the sawed off. To me it's no fun to use, and getting killed by it is just about as irritating as it gets.
Rather than have the Double Barrel which personally I hate because you barely have to aim the thing (the only prerequisite is to be close and thats not to hard in gears) I wish they would just bring back the original gnasher. With the improvements to rifle power, I don't think the gnasher from gears 1 would be too powerful.
Overall though, I will say Im fairly pleased with the beta. Its a huge step up from Gears 2, and a worthy sequel to the awesomeness that was the Gears...
Yeah what the what? Besides, thats what you get for thinking Episode 1 was better than Half Life 2 proper. Not even close.
I can't speak for the 3d but this game definitely looks far and away better than Gears 2.
Have you played portal 2? The level design / flow and humor is top notch. I find myself completely entertained and to me that warrants 95% review of the game.
Gears is all about quick, intense skirmishes. That said, if players don't like this, there are a million other shooters out there where the best strategy is to hang back and fire assault rifles.
Plus, the assault rifles in Gears 3 are actually very good weapons. Constantly switching out weapons is a must if you want to live and to me thats a sign of very good weapon balance.
